Strange taste after puff

I am sick with flu right now. Have a sore throat and constant cough.
Decided to do a little vaping.
Vaped for 10 minutes.
Coughed.
I got this strange smell in my mouth like sterile cotton. Like you know detergents that you use to sterilize stuff? this really strong medical smell.
Never happened before and it is definitely not a problem with my device.
Any guesses on what this may be?

Sorry to hear that you're ailing gershdize.
Whenever I've been sick with flu-like symptoms everything tastes and smells weird like that. I think it's just the body trying to fight off 'the bug'.

Yep. Vaping tastes really different when ill. Just push through it.

no different than smoking when sick ... taste and feel is totally off from when you are well.

best to vape your worst tasting juice when sick ... nothing is going to vape tasty.

I got something like that once when I had "walking pneumonia"
Figure it was from coughing/ disturbing puss in my lungs after having a smoke.

Welcome to ECF gershdize, hope you feel better soon. Drink some decaf English breakfast w/ honey which will cleanse your pallet and try again. That and tons of water. Only thing that's worked for me. I also only vaped when I was absolutely craving.

When I smoked, everytime I got sick with cold or flu, I always got this horrible, rank smell, which I finally determined was just the smell of my own mucus -- infiltrated with cigarette tar plus the dead virii in the mucus. I had a mild head cold in the autumn, but it never sank into my chest as colds always did when I smoked, and I didn't get any of that rank smell from my own sinuses. Massive double-plus for vaping!!! But, since taste is probably at least 75% smell, anything that messes with your nose and sinuses is going to mess with how everything smells and tastes.

Hope you get to feeling better soon! Like Andria, I used to get a lot of head colds that would settle in my chest and have that nasty-tasting hacking. No more Been over a year smoke-free and very grateful.

You can't possibly be serious. Not vape at all while waiting for a sickness to go away??? Sounds like an excellent way to bring on cravings for cigarettes.

It's your tastebuds tasting something that you didn't notice before.

Sometimes your tastebuds can taste just the tinyist teeenneeist trace of something.

Sometimes your imagination just fills in the rest.

And when you're sick, pay attention to your tastebuds; it's there for a reason.
