Stripping the RM2

I've seen a few of you guys that have stripped the RM2 down to brass, and I'm wondering how yall did it.

What comes to mind is a high-grit sandpaper and then some polishing, but before I dive into it I want to have a better idea of what I'm doing.

Someone I know did it with a emory board. The ones you use to file your nails with. Worked fine. Looks great.

That might be easier. I just think it would look good with brass on an olive drab reo.

Indeed it does. I had that setup. I took my rm2 down to brass using a drill, 510 connector, and sand paper. Put the rm2 into the 510 connector. Then put that into the drill chuck . Hold the sandpaper ( I did mine with water) then rotate the rm2 in your sandpaper.

I chucked mine into a hand drill, started with 220 sandpaper if I remember correctly and then progressed up to 1200 and then to a Scotchbrite sponge. Worked quite well and was spinning from the drip tip side. If you could actually get an old 510 adaptor and chuck from the connector side of the atty it would be even better.
