Dripping with nicotine will yield much more throat hit than expected initially. Most drippers use very low nicotine 0mg, 3mg, 6mg as it will produce a more managable throat hit. 12mg+ produces a very harsh throat hit that hurts. Try mixing your 6mg eliquid with 0mg eliquid and see if you are able to handle that throat hit.

Try lowering your nicotine level and also keep in mind that acidic juices will produce a harsh throat hit when dripping. I personally can't drip any sort of lemon/lime/raspberry/blue raspberry/etc type of juices because the throat hit is a sharp acidic one. You also want to drip on the VG heavy side, as PG will increase throat hit quite noticeably. I don't drip anything under 70% VG/30% PG.

Could be wicking issues for sure. what's your ohms and watts vaped at. which rba do you have.. I have builds from 0.2-1.4 ohms and they all vape, wick and breathe exceptionally well. Coil wick density is critical with all fibers. When twisted tight, should pull through coil easily, then untwist fibers to fluff and straighten them for maximum flow potential. Then it's just a matter of correct placement of the wick tails, so as not to block off any juice channels or right amount going through juice ports, or whatever you system allows for.

It's just one of those things, play with it till it's just right, then it will become easily repeatable. Then when switching to a new wick fiber, get to go through the same process again. lol
