Recently purchased the AGA-T to try out the genesis style atomizer, however struggling with the oxidation process using 400 ss mesh.

i must have followed 10 different tutorials however I'm getting constant shorts.

Th current method I'm using is the drill bit method. Prior to the wick placement the coil glows evenly, but as soon as the mesh is in, only the top of the coil (area from the post to the wick) glows briefly then breaks.

For oxidation I've tried the quenching method, pre torching (with butane chef torch) prior to rolling followed by dipping the wick in a bottle of VG afterwards and burning it off multiple times.

using a multimeter, I'm still getting ohm readings on the mesh as well as sounds off it.

not sure what time doing wrong, but the battery I'm using is a vmax which I know runs hot and I have not tried boiling the mesh before oxidation

anyone have any ideas

thanks

Yes the vmax runs hot so if you are coming up with low resistance with your setup, even with the vmax set to 3 volts it could very well be the reason you are popping coils. I would suggest making a high ohm setup or try testing your low ohm setup on a less powerful device. Your testing of the coils before inserting the mesh may be weakening the wire enough so that it pops with the mesh in. Make sure that top coil leg is short, close but the coil wrap not touching the post.
