Dude, holy crap this is it! The study didn't just prove that there's no second hand risk, but that there is no first hand cancer risk at all! This is a great achievement for us! We need to get this word out, like STAT! We need to keep this thread at the top of the first page(but NOT a sticky yet or a lot of people will never notice it) so that as many forumers can see it as possible

Unfortunately, We already pretty much figured this. NOW we have a study to throw in people's face when they say. OH well its still smoking and you're still going to die from it. AH HAHAHAHA. is all i have to say. People always wanna hate on people that quit smoking when they can't or better yet won't try.

I'm not talking about the article, i'm talking about the study. I check the forums several times a day and it is the first time i've seen this so I am going to disagree with you on that. It is earth shattering to anybody that gives a damn about ecig legislation, and other people that constantly harp on them. I know people that won't try them because they worry ecigs may give you cancer faster. People fear the unknown. Most people don't fear death because of death itself, they fear death because they don't know what will come afterwards, no matter how strong their beliefs may be.

And to NancyR, I know, that was a typo on my part. Obviously there are health risks for anything we do. I meant to say that vaping is safe in the regards to causing cancer and other related diseases. Sure this may not seem like a big deal to us, but it IS! You and I both already believed in the findings of this report but it is something we always took on FAITH. We never had 100% proof in the way that this study accomplished. So for you nay-sayers who are just soooo cool that this is old news, guess what, it's not. Not to everybody.

Tell me that you already knew, 100% that ecigs posed no health risks in the manor mentioned before this experiment was conclusive, and I will name you a liar. Please don't misunderstand the point of all this. Sure we already knew there was no risk of these things, but the majority of people in this world DO not, or refuse to treat vaping differently than smoking. How many of you have been told you "still smoke" because you vape? Now we can prove them wrong via science.

Quote from the report:

"Conclusions: For all byproducts measured, electronic cigarettes produce very small exposures relative to tobacco cigarettes. The study indicates no apparent risk to human health from e-cigarette emissions based on the compounds analyzed.

I think the important thing to remember is that vaping has become a big enough issue that studies are being done on the effects. Right now most are few and far between, but most of them, particularly those not sponsored by pharmaceutical activists, are validating what experienced vapers have known. I'm not an expert and have had little time with a PV, but articles, studies, and commentary like these, encourage new comers and their families to realize the immediate and long term health benefits that come with the switch. It may still be a habit, or hobby, depending on who you ask, but it is orders of magnitude less dangerous than smoking, and the more information we can provide to others around us, the more generally accepted it will be. More importantly, the stronger our argument against the misinformation that is being spread, will help shape the likely government and state legislation that will be coming to regulate PV's and their sales and taxation. Those of you who are not already familiar with some of the issues that are going on with vaping around the world, I encourage you to visit "The Rest of the Story" blog, and see what kind of precarious position vaping is in. I also encourage you to visit the CASAA website, which is an advocacy group who supports e-cigarettes and other smoke-free alternatives. We need to support the organizations who will help us maintain our freedom away from big tobacco!

It's also important to remember when we are talking about less risks it's not JUST less risks. It's SIGNIFICANTLY less risks.

It's like the difference in the risks of driving extremely drunk at 3 AM at 100 miles per hour on a slick, curvy mountain road over steep cliffs in dense fog without a seat belt compared to the risks of driving 2 miles per hour in a nearly empty parking lot on a dry, sunny day while wearing a seat belt and completely sober.

Just remember, that study is on second hand vapor, not what you vape.

We all know, or should know, that vaping does have risks, just less risks than smoking.

As one that smoked for 50+ years, I'm quite glad to settle for "harm reduction".
Actually unless the document is incorrectly written out, their findings specifically report that there is little risk to personal health from use, AND second hand vapor.
