8lb=~1 gallon

Are you sure that's for VG? I know water is a little over 8 1/3 lbs per gallon, but glycerin is more viscous. Just not sure if it the density is different.

Edit: Ok, I just answered my own question. VG is slightly denser then water. It weighs 10 1/2 lbs per gallon. So one QT would be just over 2 1/2 lbs. The 10 lb size for $13.65 would probably come in a 1 gallon jug.

Using density taken from Wikipedia (PG = 1.036g/mL and VG = 1.261g/mL) and 1gal = 3785mL, and 1oz (avoirdupois) = 28.35g conversions,

PG: 1gal = 8.64lb

VG: 1gal = 10.52lb

While the price seems tempting, but the shipping kills the deal. Unless if you can do a local pickup, you'll probably save more $$$ by purchasing PG/VG from Essential Depot.

I don't think that number is correct. According to this page, the specific weight of glycerin is 78.6 lbs/cubic foot.

Density, Specific Weight and Specific Gravity

There are 0.133 cubic feet in a gallon, so it's 78.6 * 0.133 = 10.45 pounds in a gallon. So 8 pounds is roughly 3 quarts.

Oh yeh, talk nerdy to me! : )

Sorry, completely useless and irrelevant post... but Im a geek B )

EDIT: Here, I'll add something intelligent... After shipping, its a few bucks cheaper than ED on 2 gallons... and the savings increases with your quantity.

So 8 pounds is roughly 3 quarts.

And if you add my calculation of 2 1/2 lbs (2.50 lbs) per QT to your 8 lbs for 3 Qts you get 10 1/2 lbs (10.50 lbs) per gallon.

Yeah, I got 10.52 lbs per gallon for VG as well. To me that's as close as you need to get to 10 1/2 lbs per gallon for this thread. Thanks for backing me up on that.
