I just got my hcigar kayfun 3.1. I took it completely apart in preparation to build its coil, but I've got a problem. There are (I think) two tank sections that seem to be molecularly bonded with each other. It's the metal opaque "window" section that replaces the clear polypropylene window, and the section just below it which connects to the coil platform section. It looks like its only one piece, but so did all the other sections before I started taking them apart and cutting up my fingers.

I didn't have time to search through other threads here like I usually do because I'm bleeding all over my keyboard. No one told me the Kayfun was made of razors. But I can deal with that. So its made of razors. But I DON'T want to break out my vise and pliers on components that I do not want to scar all up with vise and plier marks.

So what's the secret? Some of the other sections were very tight. No problem. I can deal with very tight. How do I beat a molecular bond between (what I'm sure are) two threaded sections?

OK, the blood's real;lyb pouyringf now, so i',m ghonna goi abnd styop it asnd cklean my6 b;ooddy kerytboartd. Thakmnns uin adcvamce!

Lol, hope you stopped bleeding! Sliced my thumb when my 3.1 first arrived too, seems to have blunted slightly now though!

I've got a coloured window section stuck on one of my nano rings, luckily I have spare parts so I can still use my kayfun.

I can usually get the sections apart using paper towel and pinching the rings by the edge instead of gripping the full bit (holding inside and out instead of finger and thumb on opposite sides), stops you squashing it that way.

These two bits are really stuck though, I cannot get them apart even with rubber gloves on!

Blood no good - lubricates and makes slippery -

I always use Frosty Grip gloves(Walmart) Only way I can get a grip on anything with my arthritis. They have never failed me and they really prevent slicing Digits. :D
I second....rubber gloves work great. Once apart, lube the threads with ejuice when putting back 2gether....makes it easier 2 get apart next time! :toast:

I got it! Finally! I discovered along the way that I seemingly didn't own a single piece of rubber. No rubber mat, no rubber gloves ... nothing. After some thought, I lifted my Razer Vespula mouse pad and used its rubber non-slip pad as you would use a "jar lid opener". After I leaned on it for a few seconds I felt the molecules separate, heard the crackling of the electrons returning to their home shells and finally felt the two pieces turning against each other.

Thank you to everyone for the advice. My fingers will be fine. They weren't very deep cuts, but they were really sharp. I've worked on cars and various machines throughout my life, built houses, built computers, taken apart and reassembled an instance of almost everything ever built by humankind. So predictably, my fingers have been cut many times. And I long ago learned the sharper the edge, the cleaner the cut and the quicker the healing.

I cut my finger on the edge of an obsidian shard once. They make scalpels out of that stuff, and I know why. The cut was so clean, that I simply laid the flesh back together, ran it under cold water for a few seconds, and it never bled again. Didn't even need a bandage.

The cuts I got from the edges of the Kayfun components this afternoon were just like that. There were three of them. One on my right thumb and two on my left forefinger. It's only been a few hours, and I honestly can't even see a mark now in either place.

Next time I have surgery, I want my surgeon to use HCigar scalpels. :p

I chalk up the whole experience to my child-like impatience upon receiving my first Kayfun clone. I was so excited that I'm surprised I didn't lick it and cut my tongue on it. I'll build a coil for it tonight and christen it with some MBV Black Ice 18.

Try putting it in the freezer for a few minuets, works for me every time on everything.
I'm going to try that next time. I did try boiling a half-inch of water in a shallow coffee cup and placing the male-threaded side in it for a minute or so. I knew it would heat the whole thing, but I figured if I could get it to heat the male side just a bit more than the other side, that I could then break the bond. Nope. Didn't work. But I will definitely try the freezer next time.

I don't supposed that other tank of yours had a chance to talk to the Kayfun, did she? She seemed to be the jealous type. Especially if you'll be screwing another tank into her battery....
You know, I hadn't even thought of that. I laid the Kayfun down next to her in my office and then left them alone for an hour or so after getting it in the mail today. And I thought I heard faint whispering when I came back into the room, but since no one else was there, I wrote it off to my imagination. She did pretty much lay claim to my Supreme when I got it several weeks ago. And she knew I was getting the Kayfun to use exclusively on the Supreme...

I guess it could have been worse. My Kayfun could have swallowed its tongue.

I've been wondering about that. I know that if you grease bolts, you can apply a little more torque but yet it help resist corrosion and allows the bolts to be unscrewed easily. I was wondering if applying liquid to the threads of a device would tighten up the threaded seal and but allow everything to be unscrewed easily, too. But I thought it might have a Loctite effect as they dried and make things harder to open up.

I think it would only have a "Loctite" effect if the juice were allowed to dry in open air. Being on the threads of a tight connection, the juice would be essentially cut off from open air, keeping it liquid and enabling it to maintain an "oil" effect on the threads.

That, plus the fact that ECFers generally haven't steered me wrong when it comes to anything vape-related. I'm still a newbie at much of this stuff, so if they say do it (and it seems sensible), I do it. :)

I bought this HCigar-brand KF clone based on their reports, for instance, and I really doubt I could have gotten one with a better quality of materials or construction.
