So I ordered my first Kayfun style tank from Hcigar. Before it arrived I have read so much about these that I am well aware of how easy it is to strip the threads on the plastic tank.

So when it arrived I started taking it apart and inspecting it to make sure everything was in order.

The tank was assembled with the stainless tank in place with the clear tank seperate. I then attempted to swap the stainless tank with the clear only to find that the clear tank only screws into one section??

Hard for me to explain but you have the plastic tank and the two steel tank sections that screw on the top and bottom of tank. The 2 steel sections are identical. If you take one of the steel sections and attempt to screw it onto the plastic tank, it goes on easily and does so using either thread sides on the tank. When I went to screw the plastic to the other steel section I lightly touched them together and what i usually do is rotate the opposite way to find the threads before going clockwise as to not strip the threads. As I did this with barely any pressure, the steel tank section just slipped over the threads....almost like it was too big. Basically it doesn't thread and impossible to tighten....The threads never catch.

Now the steel tank screws on no problem and tightens down.

I am really kind of let down right now as I was really looking forward to using the plastic tank.

So here are my questions.

Should I deal with it and keep it only using the steel tank? Or should I return it hoping to get one that works? I bought it from 101vape.

Also, this being my first Kayfun style tank...This one doesn't have a fill hole on the bottom. There are 3 holes on the sides of the tank.
1= flush mounted with a removable screw
2=just a hole at an angle
3=another angle cut hole with what looks like an allen screw?

Any help would be appreciated.

I figured out the fill hole. You need a syringe to fill and it's the while with what looks like the allen shaped opening. How does the fluid not come back out of this hole?

Onto the tank. I forgot to mention that the steel tank threads just fine. But the plastic tank has trouble with just one of the steel collar tank sections. Never catches the threads and basically just slides into the threads with little effort.

I emailed 101vape customer service. This is kind of disappointing since this is my first rebuildable experience.
Makes me question the craftsmanship of these tanks.

The fill port has a valve inside that is designed to open only with pressure from the exterior side. Thus, no leaking back out. Of course I broke mine the first time I tried to fill it with a metal needle tipped bottle, but that's another story altogether.

As for the plastic threading issue, have you tried all (8, I think) possible combinations of the 1 plastic and 2 metal sections arrangements to see if perhaps one of them will work? If so, you might have luck soaking one of the metal sections in some boiling water before trying to thread it onto the plastic section. Or go the other way, soaking the plastic section then trying to force-thread it into the metal section; this would be re-cutting the threads in the plastic.

Yeah, I tried all of the combo's. For some reason both threaded ends on the 1 tank collar don't come close to catching the threads on the plastic tank.

I tried rinsing off the clear section and re tried, no luck.

I didn't want to start getting the whole thing wet because I want to return it. But if I did was the collar, I have doubts that that would work.

Well after reading all the hoopla about how great Hcigar is and how the craftsmanship is to notch and in most cases unmistakable from the original. I expected everything to be solid.

Going by some posts I've read, even the russian gets delivered with problems sometimes. Your vendor may op for just sending you another tank. I've never dealt with them but they have a good reputation, and I'm guessing they'll take care of you.

So 101vape got back to me and Jay said to "press down harder to engage the threads"??

I'm not impressed with any aspect of this experience at all.

I really want to use this tank but don't want to start with it in case of a return. But at this point it doesn't sound like a return is happening. It's been 6 hours since they emailed me. ...

I just received one today.. Not from 101. To attach the clear tank I have to use an extremely light touch to get the threading started. Took me a few tries to get it. Obviously the clear tank is junk. I think you can get a real makrolon tank that will fit for 8 bucks or so. The clear tank from my R91 fits and threads much easier. The Hcigar clone is on the drying rack now, haven't had a chance to use it but everything else is pretty smooth and seems to be decent quality for the price.

Quality replacement tanks are running the $30+ realm if you can find them in the US. My bet is that any cheap tank will be PMMA acrylic and as good as the one you already have. There are a few places selling Quartz and if your looking for quality it's superior to even what the real deal would come with. Just don't expect it to survive drops like a good Poly tank can.
