I have a small PV (M402) w/ blue foam cart stuffing and as long as the cart is flowing well, I do 1/2-1 second press, start drawing and draw for 2 seconds and while still continuing to draw I let go of the button and draw for another second to get the remaining vapor - so 3 seconds total of dragging. And the drag is pretty much like the narrow lights I used to smoke.
I also have a VK (KR8) I bought to out of curiosity (and the pretty colors at V4L) and with a WOWboy premium cart and manual battery I don't think I can even draw 2 seconds (after a 1/2 second head start for the battery) before the carto gets too hot for my lips. So I sort of do 1/2 second press then a 2 second draw but I let up the button during the 2nd second. I still have to try a Coolcart (Boge carto) but 2 seconds is enough vapor for me since there is no resistance to the dragging.
