Sub ohm help

Right I have a tobh atty v2 on route. I've already determined my battery can handle sub ohm coils down to .3ohm. Now as a newbie in the rebuild side of things I'm not going to go that low. I want to try .9ohm which wire is best for this which will fit in the tobh atty (available space) thanks

At 0.9Ω, a dual, 2mm ID, parallel coil build, using either 29, 30 or 31 gauge Kanthal A1 wire, with a net 10mm leg length will produce a heat flux of 161, 227 and 322 mW/mm2 respectively.

Heat flux is the coil(s) radiant temperature, expressed in milliwatts per millimeter squared. Adjusting resistance up or down by as little as one tenth of an ohm will affect heat flux considerably.

To better understand what heat flux, among other variables are... along with the Steam Engine (SE) link provided by terry (and also the first hyperlink sigline below) click on the second sigline hyperlink, where I've written a SE basic to advanced user guide.
When you're done reading... you'll understand the relationship between wire gauge and length, multiple parallel coil count, net resistance... along with wattage output and their effects on heat flux, heat capacity and leg power loss.

I recommend starting out with 28ga kanthal. You're aiming for 0.9ohms which is good and sensible to start with. Also I don't have a tobh but there will be ample space for what you want to do.

I rebuild my kayfun to that kind of resistance and it's usually a 2mm coil with 6 or 7 wraps of 28ga.

I also second the site the guys above mentioned, the steam engine calculator. Have a play around and see how inner diameter and wire gauge affects resistance.

Excellent advice, the only further advice I would give is to use a reliable ohm checker at every stage of building and especially when the build is complete before firing for the first time. The ohm checker will also show up short circuits

Cheers lads. Got everything I need to know now and the gears on the way kanthal 28 organic cotton wool and of course the atty. itching to give it a go. Already got a multimeter. Just wondering what yous think of them ohm testers on eBay what you screw your atty to. Are they reliable? Can't believe I've waited 3 years to do rebuildables.

I use one of those ohm testers but I also have ohm read outs on my mods (regulated mods) so I always use both, the mods only read to one decimal place but the oc reads to 2 decimal places
I like to leave 10% headroom for safety with my mods so on the 50watt I wont go above 45W and 18W on the 20w etc
I like to vape my rba's at between 200/220 HF and my rda's a bit warmer, that's with 30/70 juices
