Subtank Mini Glass/Pyrex Cylinder Chipping Issue...

Hello everyone. My name Is John and I have been smoke free for 4 months. I've been vaping for close to a year and only vaping has made it possible to kick the butts...

I'm currently using a Subtank Mini. Have been since the beginning of March and I love this tank in both modes.
Now, here's my problem: The machining on these tanks is great; almost perfect. Except mine I guess. My Pyrex cylinder/tank sleeve sticks out just a hair at the top and only on 1 side. This has caused the glass on my tank to get chipped very easily on that side. I went quite a while before I got the chip because I am extremely careful with my gear. The first chip happened about a month ago and it just kept getting worse until it finally cracked a week and a half ago when I was taking it apart to fill it. So, I replaced it with the replacement tank that comes with the nifty Subtank "kit" and it's been less than a week and it's chipped again! And only because it isn't perfectly flush with the metal.

So now I have to buy another Pyrex tank and until I can solve this problem and I will have to KEEP replacing them whenever they get chipped/cracked. Once chipped/cracked it's only a matter of time before the tank breaks completely.

Is ANYONE having a similar problem and if so, have you found a solution and what is it? Besides something goofy like tape or a rubber band to protect the top of the tank? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

You might be able to prevent this problem in the future by using an o-ring around the glass. The rubber o-ring should act as a shock absorber and shouldn't be that noticeable appearance wise.

Alternatively, a rubber band or girl's hair tie for poney tails might also work.

About the best you can do is
Go to ib tanked and see if they have one a bit smaller on the outside diameter
(you need to know all the dimensions though)

Or try to find a polycarb replacement

Sorry, but I don't have this problem. Actually with the two Subtank Minis that I have, the metal top overhangs the glass on one side by a hair (you can feel it when you rub your finger over the seam) while it is flush on the other side. So it seems like my two are the reverse of yours.

Mine has a very, very slight overhang on the top, only on one side too. Because I'm the type of guy who gets his stuff broken alot I ordered 5 "spares" on one of my shopping trips to FT. Now that they are in hand,,, insurance that I will never break one. And 1 of the goofy rubber bands too.

LOL Funny you mentioned that Baditude. I have my woman's hair tie wrapped around it now. I guess it works, I just don't like the way it looks. Plus I had to pick her hair out of it. It looked like a Chia Tank. lmao

I wish they would have made the base recessed like my Protanks. Or better yet, there would be a slight overhang of the metal along the entire circumference of the top. I mean it's so annoying, it's sticking out just enough so it get's chipped if it hits anything but you can't see it. I want to write Kanger and tell them my tank isn't shaped just right and this is happening but I know they aren't going to do anything. I might anyway just because it's my right and they need better Q.A. control. Other than that it's just about perfect. I was using the RBA deck but lately I've simply been rebuilding the OCC's because they are so simple to rebuild and they work perfectly. I bought a pack of five .05's and I've only used two of them and I just keep rebuilding them when they're toast.

be aware of the shipping from china! it's not an "over night" thing! I order stuff from them, and try to get the dollar amount up to where I get the free shipping that is NOT,, on the slow boat. So far the shipping time to me here in the states is about 2 weeks.
