Hi all, got a subtank original 2 weeks ago. No problems wicking and building the rda.

Got the subtank mini last week and cannot!! Get it to wick right or even at all. Is anyone else having this problem?
I'm using the stock single coil and it will not grab any juice once the juice is gone that I dropped on it to prime the cool.
I have tried everything, long wick, short wick, fat wick, skinny, about everything inaginable. I never had problems with the original sometime and I am doing everything I did on that the same with the RBA. I did notice on the subtank that the juice holes are placed differently but almost in the same spot. They look like they may be a tiny bit smaller. Is this an issue for anyone else? I wonder if this is a design flaw.if anyone can give me any tips I would appreciate it. I have tried about 10 times with no success. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Pictures would be great if you could. Thanks so much

Yeah I dunno why but still no luck. I don't dislike the subtank but since the mini is smaller (height and width) that's the main reason I ordered it. I have a hexohm v2 so 25 mm is not an issue. The build deck on the mini is better bc it's raised and I fixed the leak on the original by using a #30 o-ring from delco, so no more leaks but I may be going back to the original. The mini is smaller and holds the same amount of juice since the Rba section on the mini is smaller but if I can put in a quick wick and head out for the night without taking 10 vapes in a row and wasting juice to test it, then the original may be back on my hexohm. Green monster and sohc keep this thread updated if with your findings. Maybe the will send replacement improved Rba capsules? It's annoying. I've used 30/70,50/50 and 70/30 juice and no luck. 70vg/30pg wicks great on the original

you don't need to buy an o-ring. if you look closely at the o-ring on the base, it has a rounded side and a flat side. make sure the rounded side is facing the glass edge when assembled or it will seep juice at that point. weird undocumented quirk. mine leaked, flipped the o-ring, now doesn't leak.

I noticed on my mini that the juice channels were clogged. Some lose cotton must have gotten into them. After I cleaned them out I haven't had much of an issue. I've ran about a tank through it since I noticed that issue.

From what I've read on a couple of other threads is to not have the cotton completely covering he juice channels. Although this is how I wick the full size, exactly how Phil does it in his video, and I haven't had an issue with that one. The the full size and mini are my first rebuildables so I'm just learning but it shouldn't be this difficult. Any other suggestions or ideas would be helpful.

I had the same problem but finally got it to work (and it works beautifully now!).

For the wick I used Japanese organic cotton. After threading it through the coil I basically "fluffed" it up so the cotton was a little less dense, and I cut it by lining up my scissors with the edge of the build deck (where the juice wells/slits are). It looks like it won't be enough cotton, but it really is as long as it hits that deck just a little bit.

Not sure if the airy-er wick actually helped or not, but it made me feel good inside and now my subtank mini rba is vaping like a dream (using 60/40 VG/PG)!

I'm by no means some kind of expert, but if any of you would like to post pictures of your most recent builds I could try to help see if I can spot out any issues with them. I learned through a few frustrating re-wicks full of dry hits that this rba is somewhat picky, but once you get it down you're set!

since deck is basically a kayfun there are toooooo many vids out there with many, many, wicking methods.
my prob was the diameter was too thick going through coil, tryed supplied cotton and rayon.
my last try was w/rayon and i used very little of it, about 1/4 of the diameter of the rayon coil, so far so good, one dry hit because i left tank on its side w.little juice in tank and dry hit at 25watts, primed it and all was good.
this guys vid helped me out even though vid quality is poor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaryShHOK7I

I too have had nothing but wicking issues i picked up some cotton bacon and wicked to barely touch the deck vaping no problem now. I cant get the kgd to wick no matter what i do did about 30 rewicks found split on each side of juice channel to be best. Its critical not to pack wick and keep those channels clear so you see daylight. Also another trick i found that works to induce wicking is open tank from base a bit till you see bubbles like a quarter turn works everytime. Im tempted to file out those channels i never seen anything so small honestly i think thats the problem not the wicks just my observation though.

I did file out my original mini just a bit on the bottom of the deck. It worked great. I'm running 70VG juice through it now and don't get dry hits. I run it between 16 and 18 watts like that. Also, check out Rip Trippers video on rebuilding the RBA. He shows how to wick it towards the end. The trick is to keep the juice channels clear. I always make sure I can see light in mine.

UPDATE: so i got some muffin man e juice its now my adv its 80 vg i was dripping it for bit. Im not one to drip while im out and im loving this stuff so i threw it in the subtank im sure you know how that went. I got a few hits then goes dry, prime then i get a few more this isnt how anyone wants to vape. So i just said f it im opening up these juice channels i got out my files and went to work on it. I opend them up depth wise not width i cut till i got to the edge on the ring thats underneath the rba. Looks really nice and smooth took me about 15 mins to do. I rewicked and guess what its wicking like a champ now on 80 vg no dry hits just a nice juicy vape. So as i suspected on previous post the channels are just to small and need to be opened up. Im not sure what it would do with 50/50 liquids i dont have any lowest is 70vg. So beware if you have thin juice may wanna take steps while cutting to not open up to much.
