Suggestions for 18350 mods?

Howdy ECF,

I'm thinking of adding a new mech to the vape stable and want to get something in an 18350. I think I'm over the China clones, and want to get into some higher-end gear. I'm kinda leaning towards either a GP Paps SS or a Gus. Are there any other mods that I absolutely must give consideration to?? Thanks!

I'll second the vote for a paps. I have the brushed ss, beautiful finish, silky-smooth button with a very short throw. Yes you can stand it up on a smooth surface without it firing. I also have the gus telescope, I bought it on a whim because it was the only 18650 mod easily available @ the time. The gus has a spring for the connection with the top button, which is a weak link. I needed to modify it immediately to get it to fire consistently and the bottom button is also very "crunchy". When holding both I can feel the difference in quality.

+1 for the Paps. If you can get hold of one! The V2.1 was a really solid device, but the V2.5 has a couple of improvements (better button, no knurling on the locking ring, and it can stand on end without firing) which make it worth hunting down IMHO.

Despite appearances, the GUS is a different beast altogether. As dmska said, the hot spring in the adjustable center post is a big problem and causes a voltage drop of up to 1.0V under load. GUS does sell a solid brass center pole upgrade, but it'll run you an extra E19.80 and it still won't hit like a Paps.

The other mech which I think you should consider is the Super-T ELA. It's a bit more expensive than the Paps (or the GUS), but Super-T is in a class of its own when it comes to build quality and performance. The current waiting time is 6-8 weeks, but I doubt you'll get a Paps V2.5 much quicker.

I can vouch for the Gus which are possibly easier to get hold of. Paps parts fit it too eg telescopic pin, tubes etc. The Paps 2.5 telscopic pin costs 5.5 Eur and certainly makes it hit harder.

I would at least consider the Dingo from atmizoo. You can later buy extensions to get bigger batts and the switch is butter.

Thanks for the replies everyone . Looks like I'm gonna try and hunt down a Paps. I've got a Super-T ELA on preorder (somewhere in the tail end of batch 2 ), and got a Dingo for my brother . I appreciate the heads up on the difference in performance between the Paps and the Gus. I almost pulled the trigger on one last night, since it's in stock at gus-mods, glad I asked for suggestions. Now I just need to stalk the GP thread and hope I can get my hands on one .

Well there is always the DX-350, and ENS has them in stock.

Personally I wouldn't want anything less than a 18490. Hell of a difference for just 15mm.

Nzonic, lowest voltage drop of any mech Busardo has tested. Mine is the best hitting 18350 I own.



An Ikarus would be another great choice in a hybrid...

I'm very pleased with my Poldiac from mmvapors. High end and actually possible to get your hands on one. Using mine with a AC9 wich is also not out of stock 100% of the time.

Also I generally prefer side buttons which the Poldiac have.
