Right, so I went and did a little shopping yesterday. I got a juice or two. I like them though it seems my clearomizers either cannot handle them the way I would like (though they handle a 70/30 just fine), I don't seem to be getting the flavor and throat hit that I believe I should be getting with 24mg juices. And we are talking about well reviewed juices here.

Granted I do expect my taste to be slightly off (I've been suffering a bit of vaper's tongue lately but starbrite mints seem to help a lot with that) due to 20 years of damage. Though my smeller seemed to come back pretty quickly. So I'm thinking that 50/50 juices might be too thick for the wicking system in the "stardust" type clearomizers I've been using.

So I'm thinking I would experiment with different types of clearomizers, cartomizers and was looking for suggestions.

Since I know this will help my batts are ego style 510s, and I'd prefer to not require an adapter.

You could always just add 5% distilled water or everclear to the juice to thin it down a tad. Will make it wick better. You may be noticing a difference in flavor because the higher vg level. Pg is your flavor carrier.

+1

Everclear/PGA will give a little more throat hit if that's your pleasure.

Well in the six days I've been vaping using a real system (I do keep a few Njoy kings around for emergencies) I've discovered that Pbusardo was mostly right about them.

Thats not to say they don't have their good points, I've never had a leak with them (whether thats by luck or not I don't know) and they are rather easy to fill. I like being able to see how much juice I have in the unit and it helps me caluclate how much I'm vaping per day.

But once they start getting lower than the 0.6mL mark it gets harder to get them to wick properly and I need to carefully tilt them on the side and allow the wicks to saturate. Now this isn't so much a problem with a 70/30 juice as it is thinner but I prefer to hold my PV in my left hand much like one would hold a large cigar at a 45 degree angle, and this results in the occasional bit of condensation or juice getting into my mouth.

And they don't seem to handle anything with more than 30%VG very well, even if I think they are great for thin juices. However, I have found that I generally like my juices in the 60/40 or 50/50 range. So I need to find a better solution. Because I found out quickly I really hate dry hits.

Would the PGA or distilled water dilute the flavoring? One of the problems I'm having with the thicker juices is that while I get the flavor it is incredibly subtle. (though that could be me too) I want to rule out an equipment problem first.

I might consider it. In FL though the strongest I can buy though is 151 proof. Would that be sufficient to thin the juices or is a higher proof necessary?

Sometimes a little distilled water will help a flavor pop. Although, I have a feeling this isn't the case in your situation.

151 proof will be fine. PGA will be a little friendlier for your coils but vodka is used by many with no problems.

Might want to consider trying a Kanger T3 next time you're purchasing clearo. I know Pbusardo did 100% VG in his. I use 30/70 in mine without issues. As far as flavor and TH goes, you do lose some as you increase the VG.

Yeah I've already put that on my list of equipment to try. Are the plastic components of the T3 still polycarbonate? Just asking because certain juices I've bought I've already relegated to metal cartomizers only as some people have had problems with plastics, and I don't know enough about plastic to be able to tell if it is polypropylene or polycarbonate just by looking at it unless it is in the product description.

Yes, they're polycarbonate (both the T3s and MT3s). Pretty much any clearo that is clear and not frosted is going to be polycarbonate.

Ah. Good to know. I certainly don't want clearomizers cracking due to the juice, much less melting.

Kanger does have a Pro Tank coming out that it going to be glass. There's a couple threads about it in the Tank sub-forum.

I'll have to check those threads out. A glass tank or clearomizer would not be good for work, but I could certainly use it around the house.

say...if you are using a ce4/stardust whatever you call them

you might try lowering your voltage..i think a lot of people are over powering the top coil cartos and this is resulting in dry hits because the wicks cant keep up

whenever im using top coil i try to stay around 6.5 watts...i find i have fewer dry hits and the 50/50 is going to provide you with ample vapor

If I were using a VV (I don't have one of those yet--I went with a more basic ego model) that is actually the first thing I would have tried. I'm still unsure of the coil ohm rating but I think it is probably a 2.0-2.4 (that seems to be the general standard). So my wattage should be between 5.70-6.85 watts. Or at least according to this chart:

http://www.ecigadvanced.com/community/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/power.jpg

When I was tasting my 50/50s it seemed to me that either I needed to use a different system for them, or I needed to either increase the volts or use a lower resistance cartomizer/clearomizer. Though I did get decent vapor due to the VG, I really really don't like the dry hits and I think its really a wicking issue.

The flavor issue could be me. I've been having vaper's tongue issues, and my sense of taste seems to want to take frequent vacations.

All my juice is 50/50 and I use Stardusts every single day. I have sweet dark juices and no problem with them. Once my juice level is below half, I usually tip the PV so the drip tip points slightly downward right before I take a vape to make sure juice is getting to the atty. Just a quick tip and then right back up. The few times I've had any problems with the atty, I loosened the drip tip just slightly, not enough to cause leakage, but enough to allow a touch more air in. I get great flavor and vapor with them. I do tend to refill once it gets a little below half, but sometimes I don't notice and it gets almost empty but as long as I'm doing the quick tip, no dry hits. Sometimes, right after I refill, the atty wouldn't work and I would think it was shot, but then just unscrewing and re-screwing the drip tip would make it work again. I think the atty head got loosened when I unscrewed the drip tip to refill.

Hope you can make it work for you. :)

Oh yeah I do the tipping trick too. I'll try the unscrewing the dip tip as well. Once I start getting below the 0.4mL level though the twirling method and tipping method become more difficult. My juices seem to become thicker, in the clearo, over time even at 70/30. That said I am planning on picking up a box of cartos tomorrow.
