THis is my first week vaping. Haven't had a regular cigarette since I took my first puff. I have the Joye 510 which I indicated in another thread I really like.

These early days are going to be trial and error I know. The joye 510 works so great when it is fully charged and full cartridge. It's just really high maintenance. Having to switch back and forth from battery to battery (and i only vape at night, i have never been a smoker during the day even with analogs). Even though I only do this in the evening it is still a hassle only getting a few really good puffs before having to redrip and having to swap over to another battery after an hour and a half to two hours.

I would like to use cartomizers but am intimidated by the fill method wtih syringes.

What would you guys suggest for a e-cig that is very similar to the joye 510 but with a lot longer battery life? Or is there an upgraded battery I can buy for my current Joye510 unit? I like the size of the joye 510 not really sure I"d like a fatter one, i like how this is the size of an analog.

I might just go with the Joye 510 for awhile anyway since i'd like to get the money's worth out of this initial investment but perhaps will switch to cartomizers so that each puff is consistent down to the last (with dripping seems you only get a few really quality vapes before it starts getting weak and tasteless - maybe i'm just not filling my carts right, not sure). Can anyone tell me the best cartomizer to buy for the joye 510 and where to get it (also prefilled or empty???).

Its a lot for a newbie to figure out. I am sure most of us waste money initially buying things we either didn't need or don't like. I am trying to educate myself as much as I can to minimize the overspend. I don't mind spending the money to get something that will do exactly what i want (within reason however).

I find that when I fill a cart i am only able to get 2-4 drops in before it looks like it will overflow. That doesn't seem normal - i have seen where folks here speak of putting 12-14 drops in. I can't get near that much in a used one that has started going dry wihtout it overfilling.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance!

I"m kinda new too but I will give this a shot :) since I got so much help myself.

you could order an eGo battery and a cone to give you a few more hours of battery life, but they are a bit fatter. But you'd be surprised how easy you get used to it. They will fit with your 510 atomizers you have now.

Or, you could just get more 510 batteries so you always have a couple charged on hand and don't have to panic when one runs out and you forgot to charge the other (speaking from experience)

When you top off your carts, you will just get a couple drops in before it pools. You have to stick a paper clip in there and wiggle around the filler material so the juice goes deep, then you can add more. I also like to add a few drops straight to the atty itself.

Not sure about the cartomizers. Haven't tried those yet myself, and I had the same concern about the needle siringes needed. My stash already looks like I'm a junkie.

Best of luck and congrats on a week!!!

There are a couple of good options for a better 510 battery all the parts for the following are interchangeable (atty's, carts, etc...)

*One is simply a 510 mega battery; it's slightly longer than the standard 510 battery but holds it's charge about twice as long.

*Or you could get an eGo battery (which is sold under a few different names) it's thicker than a standard 510 battery, more like a cigar size, but one charge will last just about all day.

*Or you could just get a PCC (personal charging case), it won't make your batts last longer, but keeps several of them charged while you're out and about. You can get one that fits regular 510 batts or 510 mega batts.

*If you are mostly on your computer you can get a USB passthrough, it just plugs into your computer and draws it's power from the computer (it's not cordless in other words).

As for the cartomizers: there's a really easy method that I like (people say the syringe method works better, but I do it this way because it's so easy. I do it at night so it's all set up for me in the morning). Here's the demo:

You might consider a passthrough (PT) since you're vaping in the evening, I'm assuming a lot of that time is at home? Doesn't have to be plugged into a computer either, you could get an inexpensive USB wall adapter dealie.

Cartomizers are really nice in that you can carry around a bunch and not have to mess with refilling on the go. And as you mentioned, they vape pretty consistently until they are running dry.

You've got a bunch of carto options. I've only personally tried Boge 510 cartos from LitecigUSA, and the E2 Revision 3 Ceramic Cartomizers from Awesome Vapor.

There are also the new Genuine Joyetech 510 cartos which are like the eGo cartos in design, but smaller diameter. Haven't tried them though.

The Boge/SLB/etc. 510 cartos don't *need* to be filled with a syringe. You can either fill them a drop at a time from the hole at the threaded end or pop off the mouthpiece with a paper clip and drip down the sides. It might be a good idea to let the juice settle into the filler for a little while before vaping...this might be one reason why these kind of cartos didn't last me long - I was impatient. I like LitecigUSA for fast, free shipping on orders over $15. But there are plenty of other vendors, so shop around.

The E2 ceramics can also be filled without a syringe, if you figure out how many drops = 0.8ml. Or you count drops 'til you overfill it and do less next time lol. You just have to remove the mouthpiece, middle ring, and o-ring. All can be removed with a paper clip (sturdy one though) or an eyeglass screwdriver or some such thin, long, strong metal doohickey ;) Awesome Vapor, Clouds of Vapor, and Vapor Junction are 3 places I know of that have these.

Most importantly, Congrats on your first week!!!

That's the way I saw it here first, i think i saw that same vid. But then I saw another thread with the syringe fill method and inquired about the condom method above, but was told those were older Joye 510 cartos so I assumed they were no longer made. Do you know what type of Carto I need to order to be able to refill in the manner in this vid? That is how I would prefer to do it. Seems a bit easier.

thanks for your battery suggestions. I might try the mega battery and see how that works. I do have a PCC charger on the way but really what I'd like the most is a battery i dont have to keep swapping out in the first place so often.

ALSO:

*When I first started, I replaced all the filler from my cars with rite size u blue foam. You can get a lot of it at any pet store in the aquarium section for about $5 and then you just cut off a tab of it and put it in your empty cart. It seems to make the juice wick up better so you don't have to top off as often.

*Or, what I just started doing was dripping. I was always a sceptic because it seems like it defeats the purpose of the cart if your just going to keep taking it off and dripping straight into the atty anyway. I thought, why do that... it's the same as having to top off all the time. But then I thought I'd try it with a drip tip and it's actually pretty easy and seems less trouble than using the carts.

I know right? (about looking like a junkie). I vape mostly at my PC and i have all this stuff lying around. Lordie anyone who has no clue about the e-cig would swear i was smoking crack or something. Thats all i need is to add a syringe...LOL

The method in the video is also known as the condom method. Any carto's you order should come with the rubber sleeves on both ends, so even if the model changes slightly (although they look the same as the ones that I just ordered to me) the method will still work.

If you like Joye 510, you should consider getting an eGO. Also a Joye 510 product, but with a bigger battery and a larger cartridge, and easy to get parts and accessories for.........

I absolutely agree. If it was me, I'd be getting the eGo because it's just a better battery. Yes, it's bigger, but not by all that much and I figure it makes a statement. The statement is, "No, it's not a cigarette, it's better."

Ok, I just read the thread where this came up. The eGo batt works with standard 510 cartomizers as well as these other new ones that were mentioned. In the video she's filling the standard 510 cartomizer. I use them on my eGo just fine. They'll work on any of the 510 line: (standard, mega, ego). I like to get them from dietsmokes:

If you stay with little batteries and little cartridges you're going to have to refill/recharge more often. There's no way around that. I started with the 510 but now I use the ego mega battery and mega atomizer/cartridge (2.5ml size) and couldn't be happier. However I do use a needle and syringe to refill the cartridges because it's way faster.

My suggestion to the OP: get an eGo starter kit and stow your original 510 batts for emergencies. With the vaping habits you described, one of the (two included in the kit) 650 mah eGO batteries will last you an entire evening and then some.

And for a simple no-fuss noob experience, cartomizers can't be beat.

I started with a 510 "mega" kit and even those batts wouldn't keep up with me. Within a week, I ordered the eGo kit and never looked back.

Regardless, whatever best suits your needs is the way to go. Everyone is different and nobody can tell you what's best for you but you.

Jammin, I found it hard to get my money out of the first ecig I ever bought. I went through quite a few. Hope you others won't laugh but I started out with Sxxxx1. Worst investment ever. Finally got them to cancel my subscription were I was charged almost $30 per month for 15 cartridges. Outrageous. I tried blucig. Cute little cig with an easy inhale but the battery does not last long. Read that smoking a blucig atomizer on a modern vapor battery would make it last longer. It did but not long enough. Since I had some blucig atomizers which are 2/$10 free ship (good price), I put them on a 510 battery. Great vapor production and it lasted longer. The atomizer is a smaller diameter than the battery but doesn't look too bad. I then went to the mega 510 battery with the blucig atomizer and was happy for a long time. It stilled required me to keep changing batteries but less often. A couple of days ago I received the Joye Ego from domesticvapor.com and the Tornado from totallywicked-eliquid.com. They came with an adapter that appears to join to a 510 battery charger. You put the adapter in the charger and then screw the Ego or Tornado onto it. Wow! What a difference. I smoked for 8 hours without having to change the battery. Fantastic vapor. The unit itself looks like a expensive pen. I mixed up the batteries with the cone colors and it looks really great. I think this is the one but I thought that every other time except for the Sxxxx1 which I had to suck so hard on.
I don't like to use cartridges. I did that for a long time and also refilled them. I just didn't get the satisfaction that I was looking for. I need the throat hit and more vapor production and a cartridge doesn't give that to me for very long. I now drip the eliquid on the atomizer. Forget about trying to refill the cartridge. Try 2-3 drops and then give it a try. I am now using a drip tip and that makes it so much easier because I don't have to remove the cartridge anymore. If you are worried about spending too much. Try ordering an ego battery and an adapter from a site. You don't really need the cone to see if you like the battery. Domesticvapor.com sells the adapter and battery. I think you can buy the cone for $2.50 and it is $5 flat shipping. You can use your 510 atomizer on the ego battery. That should keep the price down and still use some of what you have. Good luck, I hope this helps you. Lightz
Additon: I am smoking joytech ego from awesomevapor.com and tornado kit from totallywicked-eliquid.com I have ordered from domesticvapor.com but haven't received the ego kit yet.

I was not happy with the 510. I switched to Tornado(eGo) but it is a 510 cart & atty w/ bigger battery and longer batt life. But when I use the Tornado (eGo) with a Mega Atomizer & Cartridge, wow what a difference. I'm happy with the massive vapor. Even the eJuice tastes different. Much more flavor and throat hit. I have tons of 510 carts and switch to them during the day but they do not satisfy as does the Mega combo does.
