I have one atty a helios clone (the ones with air holes on only one side) and when it works, it is fantastic. great for single coil work like on a vamo. It hits fabulously and produces great vapor.
Okay, so the problem is, like most chinese clones, it has incredibly thin o-rings. The ones it came with were so very thin that the cap barely stayed on. So I got the smart idea of changing them out for a couple of spares I had that I got with my stellare. Those o-rings were so thick I couldn't get the cap on the helios again, it wasn't even near close to being thin enough. When I took the original orings off, they snapped, so there was no getting them back on again.
So I had an unusuable atty. I was going through my vape toolchest and found an old tank atty that I have hated from the very beginning and never use. It had a single o ring on it that was thinner than the ones I had tried from the stellare. I got it off easily enough and put it on the helios. STILL too thick. Better than the first attempt, but no way was that thing closing. I got so frustrated that I sat here for about an hour and slowly shaved away at the o-ring with a clipper until it was thin enough (albeit really choppy) to force the cap back on the atty. It is working GREAT again. (rollseyes) I am not sure the chopped up oring won't fall apart completely again when I have to open it to rebuild the coil or re-wick.
Is there anywhere you can buy such super thin o-rings? I ordered some o rings last week from fasttech, and I chose the thinnest they had (1mm) but I'm kind of thinking those are still going to be too thick. At 1.48 for 50, I suppose if I had to spend an hour clipping away at each o ring every time I change the wick or coil I could, but what a PIA. They must make the danged things. you'd think fasttech would be the place to find them, but I can't find anything smaller than 1 mm on their site.
Truthfully, I don't know for sure if the 1mm aren't right, I ordered them a week ago and they made it all the way from China and through Chicago customs in a week,... and somehow seem to have gotten lost between Forest Park and Bridgeview (3 days--sigh). They may be okay, but I think 1mm is still going to be thick.
