SVD working at .9ohm

Hello,

I just got an SVD along with an IGO-W4 and initially build double coils on it, which read .5ohms. At that point, I said crap, the SVD wont fire below 1.2ohms. I tested it, and sure enough, it did not fire.

I then removed one of the coils and tested it again, .9ohms. I knew it would probably still not fire, but decided to test it anyway. Sure enough, the coils fired right up!

Has anyone experienced the same thing? I know the sub ohm protection must be working since it didnt let me fire .5ohm, but it did let me do .9ohms...

It's "firing" at 0.9Ω (and most iTaste APVs will), but only to the limits of the internal amp safety... which I believe is 3a on an SVD. Do the ohms law math... and you'll see what voltage is actually being delivered - not what would be available with a unregulated mech.

SVD, per the "manual", is 5A max. It doesn't say what it considers a "short", but from your experience, it seems it must be somewhere between 0.5 and 0.9

So...does this mean that you can actually take it below the 1.2ohm "limit" everyone has stated?

With a 5A limit, you can take the ohms down all the way to .75ohm at 3.7v?

Too lazy to check your math , but that would depend on where the electronic sensing/protection circuit cuts it off, not just on the absolute capabilities of the rest of the circuit.
