I need IMR 18650 high drain batteries. I know that. Would and AW 3.7v 2000 mah be perfect for the SVD2? I was told the Sony VTC5 or 4 are the best. But I think that might be more often used with mech mods? I know the Sony VTC5 is almost impossible to get. I would be fine for the VTC4, but I am not sure if that is right for the SVD2. I am not sure if those Sony batteries are considered an IMR battery or not.

Also is there an issue with needing a flat top, or button top with the SVD2? I would rather have button tops. I like them best. I have two Efest 18650 batteries 2500 mah. I got them for a mech somebody gave me. I already have a Fenix ARE-C2 charger. It has done well for me thus far. Thanks in advance for anyone who might be able to give advice on this.

For 20 watts you need 8 amps max from your batteries, so any 10A or higher battery will do. You could get a little more mAh with some batteries like the Panasonic 18650PF, 10A, 2900 mAh, but I would get the Samsung 25R, 20A, 2500 mAh. Illumination Supply has both at about the same cost.

The 25R will give you slightly less time per charge at low power and likely slightly more time at high power. It is a 20A battery though so you will be running it at a lower percentage of its full amp capability which means it should last longer before it wears out. It can also be used in higher power mods so if you decide to upgrade sometime you'll be able to use it there.

Good luck with it :)
