I used a 510 system for a few months and just swapped to a KR808d-1 system. The longer battery life is goofing with me. I think I might be charging the batteries too much. My battery from yesterday only took <1 hour to charge, the 510 would have been near dead and taken about 3 hours.

This is like the third time I have under estimated my remaining battery power. Am I hurting the battery by constantly topping it off? Only once in the last week has a battery flashed at me. Other than that one time I am tossing them on the charger when I think they might be low.

You see how much better the 808 is compared to the 510 ? That's why it annoys me when people recommend the 510 to newbies because the battery life is rubbish compared to the 808, and you can still use attys on it. The 808 USED TO have rubbish cartomizers which was it's downfall, but now since there is the Ultra / Premium / Turbos cartomizers, it is definitely the #1 cig sized PV.

You're not hurting the batteries by topping them up, otherwise they wouldn't make PCC's for them.

well I bought a PCC and found out the hard way a 808 PCC isn't the same as a KR808d-1 manual battery. My PCC would not close with a battery in it. The battery was too long by only a 1/8 inch. If I could have chopped off the LED it would have fit. The PCC was only $15 from the forums here so I ripped the guts out of it and am using the case.

808 batteries are good. I've found 180mAh, 280mAh, and 380mAh sizes. Along with the good cartos you can use 901 atomizer/cart combo which fit the 808 battery without the need for an adapter.

I also have a 510 Sit and Go Passthrough which is nothing more than a 510 battery with a USB connector on the end where the light usually is. I keep this plugged into an AC adapter all the time and the battery starts charging again as soon as I take a drag so it stays fully charged all the time. On this I use a 510 to 901 adapter so I can still use my 901 atty/cart combo.

If you're really locked onto a 510, though, I would suggest an eGo/Riva-style battery. I have a Riva and I'm trying out the new CE2 v4 cartos just to see how they work. So far I'm satisfied with it and haven't done any of the mods yet. I'm going to set a couple aside, though, and try the PTB and syringe mods later.
