I do what Angelique does - refill bottled water bottles and put them in the fridge. I have a well and the water is supposedly "awesome spring water" - but I just can't drink tap water, and it comes out of the faucet as cold as it feels from the fridge.

OTOH - NYC does have good tap water though, and I'll drink that on rare occasions.

Anything with artificial sweetener is a guaranteed migraine trigger for me. I won't even chew sugarless gum.

I drink vitamin water a lot and Iced Tea. I personally don't care if "water" is the best source of hydration or if it's better for me **immature child tantrum-ish look** :) There is water in everything I eat, there is water in my fruit and raw veggies, so that counts, and - there is water in my iced tea and bottles of vitamin water :D Oh yeah, and in the ??? XXXX cups of coffee I drink ;)

Oh, and yeah - tubes of sugar!? That sounds intriguing. Where would I find a tube of sugar? I'm so there!

That's because there is sulfur in a lot of the water in FL, Remie. Some of my family lives down in Jacksonville and in Bradenton and you can really smell the stuff walking by sprinklers, whoah! Florida Pump Service states the following on their site:

"In North Florida 95% of the time there is iron or minerals in your water whether it be your private well or city water. When they are present this is called “hard” water. City water is from deep wells and the water is aerated to remove the sulfur gas (rotten egg smell). City water is also chlorinated to remove any and all bacteria from wells or transmission lines. Besides “hard” water some private drinking water wells produce sulfur, iron stain (water that stains sinks orange or brown) and iron bacteria (IB). Iron bacteria is a growth in the water which will not harm you to drink, but can cause major problems with water conditioners or house plumbing."

I did not want to insult anyone so I refrained from saying it - but you are so right.

I spend a lot of time in South Florida and it has the worst tap water, ever IMO. I can honestly say it's disgusting and tastes like warm sulfur. I've always wondered why. ???
There are areas around here that the water smells like rotten eggs. I can only imagine what it tastes like. I'm not about to taste it.:p But they continue to say that it's perfectly safe for drinking. I don't think so.:nah:

I, too, find it hard to drink water, especially in the winter. I only have one kidney now so I should be drinking a boat load of it. From what I have heard and read I thought they were saying now that drinking anything is better than drinking nothing but I know that water is better. Just have a hard time drinking it unless I've eaten too much salt or it's really hot out!

Oh...it's sweet n low for me. Although now, of course, these artificial sweeteners cause cancer! Surprise!!! Everything causes cancer these days! Although...the kidney that was removed was cancerous!8-o Hmmmmmm.....:p

I dont think its insulting its just simply a fact! Now they put so much chlorination in the water, it often smells more like the pool than sulfur. Im not sure which smell is better =/

Wow - if it can cause major problems with house plumbing - no wonder my mom insists that when she's had tap water it does disgusting things to her gut 8-o

I will never tell her she's being "dramatic" again - not now, not evah

eeeew !!

I can't stand drinking water, but with vaping I have to. I use glass bottles that previously held juice and add tap water.

Since I can not stand plain water, I just take a little unsweetened Koolaid (I vary the flavors) from the little Koolaid packets and add it to the water just to give it a little flavor. I am now able to drink more water.

The nurse at my Dr's office told me that any liquid such as decaf teas etc will work to hydrate, as long as it does not have sugars in it.

Yes Drink the Kool-aid
I heard that`s what they want us to do. Then you will believe we are all just fine the economy is fine the air is fine and most of all the Health care plan is fine. 8-o
So I`d just rather stick with my bottled water Nestle Pure Life

I mean it says it`s Purified Water right on the bottle.

It sounds like I'm the odd one out here... but I love water  I drink at least a litre in my water bottle over the course of the day and keep a brita filter in the fridge. For me, nothing beats a chilled glass of water. Mind you, BC has some awesome tap water so maybe that's why. I don't like the bottled stuff.

It's kind of comical how so many of you folks trick yourself into drinking water :)

I hate plain water, so I stock up on the Crystal Light packets. I keep a water bottle here at home, so I fill it with tap water, dump the Crystal Light in it and add ice.

Good stuff!

You should check out the Walmart brand "Great Valu" drink mixes. Same stuff as Crystal Light (aspartame) but available in MANY more flavors and MUCH cheaper. Cherry-Limeade is my favorite, but they are all pretty good. Apple tastes surprising like the real thing, Lemon Ice-Tea is pretty good, Pink Lemonade and Cranberry as well. The Cherry is pretty strong by itself, but it's good for mixing with other drinks - mixed at high concentration (so you don't water it down too much) with Diet Coke, it's much better than Cherry Diet Coke, IMO. A couple of them even come with vitamins added, like the Orange-Early-Rise (pretty good too) and I forget which other one, Grape maybe. Check 'em out, you'll like 'em.

On another note, I was happily surprised that there hasn't been a single aspartame conspiracy-theorist post. Hope I didn't just jinx it.

On yet another note, I've also been happily surprised at the quality of Walmart's "Great Valu" generic brand in general. It seems that they've been rolling out more and more products of all kinds, and the one's I've tried are for the most part pretty damn good - unlike my typical experience with other supermarkets' generic brands. I really love their "Cinnamon Crunch" cereal, and I know, generic cereals usually suck.

Polycystic? I had a polycystic kidney removed at birth....so I'm right there with you on the "supposed to do this and that" list.

Can't stand straight water...purified, tap, bottled, distilled...doesn't matter it's just blech to me. I can chug the caffeine free diet Pepsi and crystal light tho.

very much so and anything that contains caffeine, carbonation or artificial sweeteners I was told by my nutritionist is not hydrating to the body. We need clean pure water for healthy hydration.

Weird, when I took human nutrition in college my prof (a RD) assured us that while caffeine is a diuretic that even coffee is hydrating. Basically it off-sets part of it's own volume of water (a cup off coffee is equal to drinking about a half cup of water the other half being flushed out).
