I have been rebuilding , well rewicking ( replacing coils when necessary ) my T3S (2 - smaller one for morning vape , larger one for rest of the day vape ) with 3mm Silica Wick with good results . Recently I decided to try cotton wicks . My first attempt didn't go to well due to cotton taste but after a bit of reading I started boiling the cotton ( hypoallergenic store brand ) and that helped . I was happily surprised by the TH , vapor production and clearer taste cotton produces , especially after 1ml or so is run through the cotton wick . I do notice dryer mouth almost instantly though . I even changed the wick on a tank ( halfway through ) back to silica just to be sure it was the cotton wick . Am I using the wrong cotton or maybe not using the same wick long enough ? Could it just be that the cotton wick produces more vapor and I need to adjust my draw time/length a bit ? Anyone else notice similar issues ? What advantages / disadvantages have you found with varying wicks ?

I use cotton. Organic cotton, CVS brand. I do not boil it. It does take a bit for the cotton to "break in". The key is not to put too much wick or too little wick. You want enough wick in the coil so that it properly gets the liquid to it but don't want too much. Best way I have found to do this is to get enough where it is almost snug. If you pull on the dry wick it should still be able to come out of the coil with no resistance. If it resists a little bit, take it back out and remove a little bit decreasing the diameter of the wick (do a little bit at a time). It is a challenge at first to find the right amount as cotton acts different than other wick solutions. I can't think of any true downsides to cotton other than having to twist up your own wick from a ball and maybe the slight learning curve...
