I just completed my build with the new SX-350 board from YIHI. I was in a hurry to test out this new board so it is not ideal and I will replace some things soon. Like the switch battery and case. I Built it in about 3.5 hrs it went together smoothly. Here are some pictures.

Now for testing and figuring out how to use all the bells and whistles.

Very nice!

The wires come pre-soldered? That's practical! Looks pretty easy to build. I guess that's an advantage of only needing one button :)

I had to solder on the 4 wires from the USB charging board a new switch because I didn't like the tactial switch that came with it. I put a radio shack switch on there and it is not much better. I have to find a better one. I also had to add a ground wire from the 510 connector to the negative of the battery.

This is what it looks like before the charging board and switch is added/replaced.

Really....
that does not sound right at alll. I suspect a communication problem.
anyway you may use any momentary switch that is normally open.
I have used 3 different switches from radio shack. I didnt like them. I have used a couple from Frys.
finally I went on ebay and got from overseas some all black low profile 12mm momentary NO switch.
and LED lighted 12mm low profile silver some blue some red.
I did a write up on how to wire up the switch with pictures. I think you can search on my uid and switch maybe you can find it...
I hope this helps.
cut that crapy tact switch off and replace it. They put that on there for you to throw in the trash. Not many would like that clicky thing...

What kind of switch did you replace the tactile with? I spoke to YiHi, and they said it wasn't replaceable?!?

What size drill bit did you use for the tactile button?

The tact switches are gold plated smd switched mounted onto a double sided copper clad circuit board. On the back side of the face is a well for the board to fit into. The holes are pilot drilled with a template for exact fit then they are drilled one size up.
