Saw this 50w VW mod at fasttech and am wondering if this is a clone or what. I'm not familiar w/the "ichip" brand- if it is a brand in the first place, and a search didn't turn anything up. The chip is bound to be a clone of some sort but again- no idea as to who might be the manufacturer.

My question is who makes this, does it seem like it's worth a second look, and does anyone have any first-hand experience w/it?

Think it's made by Hotcig...check out this Malaysian review of the 35w version.

No idea here, but if it's a legit Yihi board and put together well this looks like it could be a hell of a deal.

Almost perfect from my perspective.

I have a IPV2 but far prefer the Hana box. No goof troop touch sensor and the USB port isn't on the bottom.

I'd much prefer buttons over the grav sensor for power adjustment though.

Thanks for the info/opinions. I agree wholeheartedly about preferring buttons over the G-sensor, but that wouldn't necessarily be a deal killer for me as there are people who adapt readily to its idiosyncrasies. The board being a clone also is no surprise at all- for the money there's no way it could be anything but a clone IMHO. I have a Hanaa Modz DNA 30 clone, it has a cloned chip and has been working w/o issue for a couple months now. Now that doesn't necessarily mean THIS chip will be okay, just saying. And the chip reliability was the main reason for asking about the mod in the first place. For that matter, the DNA 30 clone is still available from FC and is cheaper than ever...

As for the battery door needing screws, because the enclosure and battery tray, etc. is like the DNA 30 clone it's an easy modification to add neo magnets. No machining, magnets are cheap.

Cloned board. Money better spent elsewhere methinks. At least wait until more reviews roll in.
Reviews are what's lacking, no doubt. I was hoping someone reading this would have some first hand experience w/it but it seems that it has been largely ignored.

So, what's a comparable yihi boarded 30w to 50w box mod?

I own the hotcig sx300 35w version for few months now, for the simple reason of having a pocketable box mod/usb charging/replaceable 18650 and 20+w at an attractive price for my out and about mod.

I really do like sx boards for their real time battery displays. Got the sig20w when it 1st came out and loved it, although not a big fan of the gravity sensor to change wattage, it's not troubling to me as i don't change wattage much.

When I first got the sx300 35w I noticed some differences in board behaviour to my sig 20w(with authentic yihi sx200 board)
1. Display brightness - Dim on sx300 is brighter than sig20w, when bright on sx300 is dimmer than sig20w, in other words the difference between dim and bright on the sx300 is much less.

2. Waking up from sleep(display off) - sig20w wake up and fires instantly, while the sx300 lags a bit before the display lit up and fires.

3. Battery voltage reading - sig20w accurately matched readings from multimeter, full batt reads 4.16-4.17v. The sx300 is way off, reads like +0.2v on the same battery(4.36v ...!)

4. Battery sag(on display) - sig20w will sag to about 3.8-3.9v at 20w with a fully charged vtc4, sx300 will sag only to 4.1v at 20w with the same fully charged vtc4.

5. Some differences in menu - could be just different firmwares and board model

Power output measurements are good with a multimeter from 10w thru 35w, with 1.2ohm to 2.4ohm coil load, comparable to the sig20w.

So, I do have doubts that it's authentic yihi, but at the same time can't say conclusively whether clone or not until I rip the board out and visually inspect it and compare to a real yihi sx300 board.
From what I understand, the real yihi sx300 goes to 30w unless there are some upgrades that I dunno that take it to 35w and 50w. Yihi also states that they don't supply boards to 'other' chinese mod makers?
Many local sellers claimed it's authentic yihi, but at the price it's selling made me suspicious.
