I use either 3ml or 6ml, depending on how many I'm filling. 18 GA needles have been perfect so far.

I usually pop the top and go in from the mouth end. Insert the needle between the batting and the inside wall of the carto, and slowly pull the needle out while filling. If it starts to flood, just back out the plunger a bit until it's perfect.

Egads. You got a 29 to work? I don't have that much patience when filling.

I use 18g needles from the mouth after popping out the cap. Slide the point down along the side of the barrel to minimize disturbance to the wadding.

I don't think that a 6ml syringe would be hard to deal with, that's probably the next size up from a 3. Why are you tying the syringe selection to the needle, though? You can buy them separately without any problem. A local farm (or veterinary) supply place should carry them, you can also find lots of sources on google.

For the record, I like my 1 1/2" needles. Get much shorter than that and you'll have trouble reaching the bottom of your carto.

I use 1 1/2' 22g needles with 3ml syringes ($.25@ publix pharmacy) I also have a 10ml that I use if I'm bulk filling. I also fill from the mouth end after pulling the cap (directly into the batting) then finish it off with a Taryn spin, rinse, repeat (don't actually rinse)

I find that 27g is incredibly difficult to depress and 17g is really hard to control. 22g is a good compromise.

$.25 at Publix?! That's awesome. I just checked Amazon and they want over $11.00 for one. Sounds like rip off central to me. Will a pharmacy really sell me a syringe? Never even gave it a thought.

My syringe needles are color coded. The grey ones are too narrow, the blue are too large, the yellow are just right.

That's great Leaford! Bet that helps out and I'll take note on that...But where do you get them?!

Starting to feel like an idiot here. Thinking I should go check under a local bridge and boil a dirty one...LOL.....Just kidding. I would never do that.
Unless it was necessary. :p
