If you have the original T3 or MT3 style with a one piece base and coil combined - that is obsolete. It has been replaced with the T3s and MT3s which have a separate base and screw in coil. You now only replace the coil.

Very few places have the original T3 heads in stock and once it's sold out they are gone. You need to purchase an upgrade base so you can use the new T3s/MT3s coils in your existing T3 or MT3 tanks. =>

Unless the clearance one came with the two part base and coil she will still need to get an upgrade base for any of the older T3 or MT3 models. All you buy is one upgrade base, then you buy the new T3s/MT3s coils and screw them in - and then back out - of the base. Like I said, in this scenario you no longer throw out the base - only the coil that goes into it.

This was done because it was kind of pointless - and expensive - to have to toss the entire screw on base when only a relatively small coil inside there was what needed to be changed. The new style replacement coils now cost less in the process. About half the cost of the one piece configuration.

The actual exterior tube of the T3 or MT3 has not changed. The only thing that has changed is the coil and base going from a one piece assembly to two separate parts. See the photos at the Mt. Baker Vapor link and it will make sense.
