Hi. A ~week ago, I received the Taifun GX Style by ShenRay. I'd like to thank the Minecig.com store for sending me this product. It's a review sample, so I should review it after receiving and testing the atomizer. So here it is.
Let's start by saying that this is my first time using the Taifun GX. I've used other Smokerstore products (both clones and originals), and I expected it to be good, even very good, and I was right.
The atomizer is 23mm in diameter, 41mm tall without the drip tip, and has a capacity of approximately 4ml. The installed air inserts are 3x1.8mm. The kit includes an additional 510 drip tip, four spare deck screws, spare O-rings, two Allen keys (for the deck and the 510 pin), and, of course, the atomizer. It's possible that the retail version will include more, it would be nice to see a spare glass tube.
The build quality is good, though there are some machining marks visible inside, which is perfectly acceptable considering the price. I didn't feel like anything was about to fall apart during use. There aren't many threads, but in my case, none of them made any unwanted noises, which is a big surprise with a styled atomizer. The O-rings are also of good quality, which isn't standard in clones. Everything that moves operates smoothly, and nothing gets stuck. The draft is pleasant, though slightly whistling, but not overly loud or irritating. The ring adjustment is sufficient, but for more demanding users, you can buy air inserts to further customize the draft. The thing I might complain about, though I don't know how it is on the original, is the position of the airflow ring in its final position. It seems to me that it should stop sooner, but this doesn't cause any problems in use.
This ring also functions as liquid filling, simply turn it to the appropriate position, and a filling port will appear. I mainly use small 10ml bottles with a thin spout, but I had no problem filling it from a 60ml Gorilla. With larger bottles, it can be a bit tricky.
The second thing that's not ideal is the liquid transfer wires. They tend to fall apart without the O-rings (this isn't ShenRay's fault, as the original also has these wires). Once the O-rings are installed, you can't remove the wires because you can't reinstall them without unscrewing the tank, which makes cleaning difficult. You have to unscrew the 510 pin with an Allen key and then unscrew the tank to rinse it. Other atomizers I've seen with the steel wire design didn't have these O-rings because they were made differently. I don't know the purpose of this, as I unfortunately have nothing to compare them to. Perhaps this improves liquid transfer. This isn't particularly annoying to me because I usually clean my atomizers at home and have an Allen key to unscrew the tank, but I think it's worth mentioning. If this were to really bother anyone, I think it wouldn't be a problem to swap out these wires for other wires or a mesh.
Installing the coil was easy, as was installing the cotton. Although I haven't had much experience with atomizers with wires for liquid transport, I managed to do it on my first try and didn't experience any leaks or problems with transport. The cotton is always properly moistened, and I've never had a dry hit. On one side of the deck, there's a small screw inside. From what I understand, it's used to increase the liquid flow by venting the tank, but I didn't feel the need to use it (I tested it with 50/50 and 70/30 liquids, and the liquid flow was very good without unscrewing it).
I mainly tested Fused Claptons and Aliens 2x26/38, 3x28/38, and 4x28/38. I also tried Ni80 26GA round wire. I was happy with all the builds. I tried all the 3mm coils because I thought they would fit well, and I stuck with it because I was completely satisfied with the performance of the 3mm coil. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of each build, it completely slipped my mind, but I think everyone knows what a coil looks like if I provided the specs. I'll just post the 4x28/38 @3mm coil I'm currently using, which work great.
Since I received it, I've been using it every day and it's truly great. The flavor is top-notch, the vapor is pleasant and wet (moist, wet, saturated? I don't know how to properly describe it in English, but you get the idea). I've used various liquids, mainly fruit and tobacco, and I'm pleasantly surprised because I've sometimes noticed more flavor notes in a given liquid than on the GTIV. Needless to say, it's simply very good. I also like the size of the atomizer, because it fits on my Volish Vix, which together creates a nice compact set.
In summary, I really like the atomizer and think I'll be using it often because it's really cool and pleasant. The flavor is very good, and the vapor volume is sufficient and dense. It takes me less than 5 minutes to prepare it for use. There are no flaws that would prevent me from using it. As for the design, I think it's nice, but everyone has their own taste. I think it is worth buying and I will consider purchasing the original in the future. If you can afford the original, I recommend supporting SmokerStore, because they make great equipment.
This is my first review, so it may not be perfect. English isn't my primary language, so I apologize in advance for any errors. If anyone has any advice, I'd be happy to read it. You can also ask questions if I've missed anything, and I'll do my best to answer them.
