That just means that the cartomizer that they include with the tank has an ohm rating of 1.5 ohm. You can put any cartomizer in the tank that you wish.

Having said that, tanks and cartomizers come in two basic lengths.

Standard size tanks match up with standard size cartomizers (35mm length cartos, ie Boge, Ikenvape standard, etc).

XL tanks match up with XL length cartomizers (45mm length cartomizers, ie Smokteck dual and single coils, Boge XL, Ikenvape Mega, etc) So, in essence, either match your tank length with the appropriate cartomizer, or if you already have a favorite cartomizer match a tank length to it.

DCT stands for dual coil tank. It doesn't mean it can not accept a single coil cartomizer. It's the same analogy as Q-tips for cotton swabs, Band Aid for elastic bandage, etc. DCT tanks match with an XL 45mm cartomizer.

There are pro's and con's to using dual coil cartomizers vs single coil cartomizers. Mostly it is preference. Do realize that dual coil cartos will drain your batteries faster than single coils will.

I generally recommend that new carto tank users buy pre-punched cartos for their tanks. This will remove one of the human error issues that can occur when beginners try to punch their own cartos.

I have a listing of several vendors that sell single coil pre-punched cartos in my blog entries under my avatar.

I recommend watching the following video demo to learn the basics of carto tanking:

I want to get a few new tanks for my LT so I'm not putting different juice in the same tank.. I want to get 5 tanks for 5 different flavors.. What ohm lvl should I look into? 90% of the juice I got are fruity flavor. Is there a ohm that's a good for a wider range of voltage? like from 4v-5 or higher or should I just get a 3ohm.. And How about LR,HR and SR and DC or single coil?? I'm lost with this part of vaping

can someone help me figure out what the heck fits in a smoktech DCT tank?

Like, on every vendor's site I've seen, they only list the tank as 3.5ml or 5ml for the smoktech tanks.
SO, what the heck? Does the 3.5ml tank hold regular cartos and the 5ml only holds XL cartos or what?
What brands fit in the 2 smoktech DCT tanks? I can't figure it out.

OK so I just tried stuffing a (I think its a boge?) XL boge carto into my 5ml (I think its a 5ml?) smoktech tank. It went through the bottom cap fine but the top cap was a pain in the ..... finally I managed to push it through. As soon as I got it through I realized the bottom cap was a little loose around the boge carto (and the top cap is really tight? what the heck??) and that it MIGHT leak because boge cartos dont have a flange like the smoktech DCT cartos do. (the ones that came with the tank) soooo... Idk what to do. Idk what will fit in these things. Its annnoying. lol.

Then I look at the smaller smoktech DCT and I compare its length to my larger smoktech DCT. Same length, just smaller girth. This one is filled half way with disgusting juice so I couldn't try the boge cartomizer in it unfortunately... But I'm guessing the XL boge carto would fit in it fine as well.

So is there no such thing as a short ("regular") smoktech DCT tank? I guess not? That stinks. I guess I'll have to shell out for an IBT or Phiniac?

Yes, the 3.5ml and 6ml Smoktech DCT tanks take the same 45mm XL length carto. The 3.5ml and 6ml tanks both take the same longer carto. They differ only in their diameter size. ANY XL length carto should fit them. And they do NOT need to have a flange.

Smoktech makes a "shorty" 4.5ml DCT tank that is the same diameter as the 6ml DCT, but will accept the standard size 35mm cartos such as Boge. This vendor sells them: 4.5ml Colored DCT Tube for 35mm Cartomizers

Plumes you need to get a "slap yo momma" or some type of tank filler. Cartos come in two sizes. standard 35mm or XL 45mm. All my tanks are for the 35mm cartos. Hang on and I'll find the link.
Slap Yo' Mama Adapter : Big Daddy Vapor
I've been using one and it's the only way to go. Lots of tank vendors sell different ones.

They really do make all the difference and save your "O" rings.

Since your Lava Tube is variable voltage, I recommend that you get a 2.5 - 3 ohm single coil pre-punched cartomizer. This ohm works best with voltages between 3.5v - 5.0v. The following link will lead you to a Power Chart that will assist you in finding the best ohm rating for the voltage range that you typically use: ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting

I use variable voltage on a Provari. I use an 2.5 ohm single coil Ikenvape Mega carto https://www.ikenvape.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=MGAPlatP

or a 3 ohm single coil Smoktek carto Single Coil XL Tank Cartomizer for the SmokTank XL

I find the fruit flavors to have more flavor if vaped between 3.4v - 3.7v. However, my coffee flavors have the best flavor vaped at 4.0v - 4.8v. When I get a brand new flavor, I generally start out using 3.7v and work my way up by 0.2 increments until I begin to taste a burnt taste, then back down in voltage.

And thanks, TNT. I just share what I have found works for me. :thumb: Many who have followed my advice seem to agree.

I do highly recommend the Slap-Yo-Moma tank tool. There are many variations on vendor websites, but this is the best design by far.

Plumes, you can cut down the poly tube that came with your DCT to use Standard cartos (35mm). I have seen where folks mentioned putting a dowel inside to help prevent deforming.
:thumb: Now, HE is the TANK MAN! Mr OCD, glassman extradinaire from IBTanked. ;)

Hardware stores sell pipe cutting tools that would do the job. Not sure if that is a cost-effective way to go about it unless you have several tanks to cut down.

idk i'm going to order a few tomorrow but I can't decide on which to get.
I basically only want one glass tank. I think I'm going to settle on a phiniac, regular size...
But now I'm wondering standard sized tanks flood more because theres less filler to hold liquid.
my XL DCT tanks already flood ENOUGH. I don't need MORE flooding. lol.
but I still want a cheaper tank, maybe a clear smoktech DCT i guess.
I'm looking at High Desert Vapes tanks and they look great but $60? wow.

ugh its harrrrrrrrd to decide when your buying things that you'll be using all day and night every day n night.

I have dozens of DCTanks that I have cut down to fit a standard sized carto, and they have been working flawlessly for me for many months. Dual coil cartos are notorious for flooding, although some are successful using them. As long as the O rings are not damaged the tank itself isn't the problem; it's the carto. IMHO, as long as the tank is airtight, it's like comparing apples to apples. A tank is a tank. To prevent leaking, the most important component is your carto.

For anyone interested in cutting down their tank tube, I thought I'd throw this info out to you. I thought it sounded like rocket science to mod my tanks, but it's really simple. First, mark the tube with a sharpie at the point where you want to cut it. Put a dowel(whatever you can find) inside the tube. This will prevent the tube from collapsing due to the pressure of the cutter. Make sure that is close to the id of the tube. I use a socket from Hubby's Cratsman socket set. The 12mm socket is a perfect fit inside the tube.

Use a tube cutter, inexpensive at any hardware store. Place your tube in the cutter and line up the cutting wheel with the mark you made. Carefully turn the tube and dowel while increasing the pressure of cutting blade in the tube cutter by turning the knob. Repeat until it is cut through. Just go slowly and make sure you are getting a straight cut as you turn it. I was afraid to try this because it sounded like I would need some special skills and tools, but it's not hard at all.
