I purchased a vpx tank from happy vapor and it was good. There was no burnt toots, no gurgling and no leaking.. but there is never any replacement carto's in stock so that means i cant use it.
I then decided to purchase DCT tank and well that doesn't seem to be as good. It only has one hole and alot of dry burnt puffs.
Now i am wondering about giving the j tank a shot? any suggestions....

I am running a L-rider and a Alpha

I thought the DCT and the VPX accepted the same cartos...?

If you're having issues with Dual Coil cartos and the small hole, you can widen by using a nail and tapping it with a hammer. A lot of users punch their own holes, after all.

Actually this is what HappyVaper says under the VPX description:

These tanks can be used with almost any standard diameter cartomizer with our "Dot" modification of 1-2 drilled micro holes in the metal sleeve of the carto. You can either do this yourself if you're handy, or we offer numerous varieties of pre-drilled cartos for your vaping pleasure.

Sounds like your issues are more to do with the carto than the tank itself...

You can use the vpx tank. Any carto will fit in the tank. XL for the large tank. You might have to punch your own holes in the carto after you remove the label if it has one. Very easy to do and lots of tools and videos showing you how. Just so you know the tank is just a juice holder, the problems you mentioned are from the carto not the tank. Dry hits mean not taking in enough juice so make holes a bit bigger or add another if there is only one. Remember to add fluid to carto before using it in the tank. Once you do a few it becomes very easy.

It's been posted further back in the pages here at Canada forum for an easy way to enlarge holes in the cartos, I don't think it goes against forum rules to link it here again.

Using this: Lowes Self Piercing Saddle Valve, available for $9 in the plumbing section at Lowes - ask for a 1/4" saddle valve. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/canada-forum/233158-if-you-use-carto-tank-easy-punch-tool.html

I think some of the trick with this is go slow and practice on an old carto, get a hole started, and judge how many 1/2 turns or 1/4 turns will get the best size (too big means flooding, too small still gives poor feeding and burning).

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.

I use needle files for slotting my tank cartos. Real easy to use and the slot also helps break the surface tension of the liquid. Just file the slot right over the existing hole and enlarge it about double it's original size. Make sure to de-burr the edges or you'll wreck the tank O-rings.

Edit* A lot of auto and tool supply stores also carry needle files. Very handy to have regardless.

I've got 8 carto tanks-- 2 Smoktechs,2 Big Daddy Vapors(1 poly tube and one stainless),2 Liquinators ,a VPX and a J Tank and they all work pretty well but I always end up putting my favourite juices in the Big Daddy tanks-- great caps,no leaks, easy to fill and reasonable prices. They have a fullly stainless steel tank for juice that will crack poly tubes and this weekend are putting up a stainless tank with a window so you can see the juice level. They also just added a pretty cool filling accessory called the "Slap Yo' Mama" Multi-Purpose Adapter. By the way-- I've said all this in previous posts but I really do like their tanks--so sorry for repeating myself(don't work for them--lol). Anyway--if you don't mind spending a little more than what you would on a Smoktech(which work absolutely fine)I can't recommend BDV enough.
