Many tanks can be used with standard eGo batteries. Some of the more popular ones tend to be CE5s and EVODs. Personally, I like the Kanger MT3s because they are bottom coil and seem to have a better draw than the EVODs. Bear in mind, however, that these tanks are plastic and may crack with certain liquids (mostly acidic fruits and cinnamon flavors). Popular glass tanks include the Kanger Protanks (several varieties) and Aspires.
Nicotine strength is something that you will have to experiment with. There are heavy smokers of strong cigarettes who have been fine with low level (0-6 mg) strength and light smokers who need 24+ mg. It seems that everyone is different. From what you have said, it sounds like 24 mg is a good starting place. Depending on your budget (et al.) you might also pick up another bottle of lower strength liquid to compare or mix down your strength if need be. For me, I was a PAD MB Lights smoker. I typically vape 12 mg most of the day and use 18 mg every 2-3 hours for about an hour just to keep any cravings away. One last thing to consider, the higher the nic, the greater the throat hit.
PG/VG ratio is also something of a personal preference. VG is thicker and results in a smoother vape with bigger clouds, PG is more liquid, increases the throat hit, and holds flavor better. Personally, I love some 100% VG flavor--and some even provide a decent throat hit, but I have also had some very good 50/50 liquids. Much of this also seems to rely on the recipe used by the maker of the liquid. Something to also consider is that some people have had bad reactions to PG. It may or may not affect you, but it is something to bear in mind.
I hope this helps. Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!
