I have been using the Boge F16 tanks for the past several months and decided to try some new tanks when I made my last order. I ordered a Boge F16 V2 and a Dbox Ultimate Dual coil tank. Both of these tanks bottom out on the top of the Provari before the carto makes contact with the positive connection. Even if they did make a connection, there is no room for air to get through. Am I missing something? Do I need some kind of adapter? It seems the problem is with any tank that has a locking ring on the bottom (both of these tanks have a locking ring on the bottom, the standard F16 does not). It takes up too much space so the 510 connector can't make it to the positive contact on the Provari. Thanks for any help you can provide!!

I've used all kinds of tanks on my Provaris (F16 IB Tanked Phiniak Kir Fanis AGR DCT) and had them all work. Some I agree there is a air flow restriction. I am able to negate this by "fiddling" with the tank; trying to raise it a bit. You can get a Hippo for it and there are other AFC air flow controls for them. What I have done is to use just the tanks that work with no hassle. For me that is the Kir Fanis and the IB tanked and Phiniak.

If you use a high quality pyrex tank, there's no need to have a locking ring. IBTanked or other pyrex tanks have higher quality o-rings which prevent the tank being too loose on the carto.

Smoktech and Boge need to just make cartos and not tanks. If they can't figure out how to use better o-rings on their tanks instead of designing an elaborate locking system (which other tanks don't seem to need), then they should just stop. It's sad to wonder how many people have given up on cartotanks after using a Smoktech or Boge cartotank. Just my opinion.

I have a Hippo, but I never use it. I just use flanged cartos, which allow for a bit of airflow. The is a gap, but ProRings help hid that.

The tank in the first picture is a Loki Labs SS1, which has airflow slots built in.

I have had this issue plenty with my ProVari. Lemme tell you this - I HATE unscrewing the tank for airflow. HATE it.

Fortunately for me, I'm very, very handy with a Dremel. I put my smallest grinding stone on and carve channels in the base of the tank (ala Kanger Protank) so that the airflow is easy.

I've also used cutting disks on most of my mods to widen the airflow channels in the 510 connection.

Let me go snap a couple pictures

I looked at the Hippo a lot myself (and the Loki Ring, and the combo ProVari ring/extender on GR-Modders) but in the end, I decided to not spend any money and just DIY the tanks. Gotta say, I'm happy with the results.

That said, I'm now using the IBTanked 19mm cartotank, and I JUST got my Prive tank in - Nothing compares. At first I was getting slightly thin vapor (a combination of using high resistance carts and not letting it steep long enough) but now that I've got them figured out, I'll take them over ANY coil tank. I highly recommend the IBTanked in either 19mm if you like the tapered look, or 22mm if you want to get a hippo/pro-ring/Loki ring, with a 2.1ohm carto. Haven't had a single airflow problem, and the flavor is miles ahead of my protank/aspire/evods/etc. Plus, the refilling tool from IBTanked is just the best. It makes my life a lot easier.

EDIT: That said, the rings are a great plus, it'll just look a little weird with the tank you have. Protanks are 19mm, the ProVari is 19mm at the connector and 22mm for the mod. Most people don't mind that, but I like for everything to sit flush, so my 19mm tanks go on with no ring, and 22's have to have a ring. I'm planning to get the GR Modders ring and extender cap combo in brass, and an IBTanked in 22mm with black caps and a black and gold paint job. I think the black and gold Provari setup is just so sexy

Now I just need to find the membership application for the Provinnati. Is it a secret handshake? My first born child? Point my ProVari due north and chant?
Our madam Provarinati Princess The Ocelot is in charge of initiations and inclusion in the group picture. Since it was the Provari which chose you and not the other way around, membership is automatic. ;)
