I have a friend who started vaping about a week before I did, and she repeatedly asks me to find out something for her, and while I have looked around on here, and I have found some possible explainations for some of it, it is my lack of these issues that is inspiring her jealousy and my need to seek advice from all you Sages of the Fog.

No matter what tank or battery she is using, ALL of her juices darken, most of them turning a really gross Chew Spit color over a short time. She finds it unappealing, and once even remarked to me that it is grosser than cigarettes. She says this is on multiple different flavors and brands, they all turn to Chew Spit.

Now I don't know WHY I don't have these problems, I haven't had ANY of my juices darken, and they all stay nice and clear yellow. This is despite still using the same head on my Protank 3 mini as when I bought it in the beginning of June. (Everything tastes as good as the day I started) AND I've only changed the head on my Mini Aeo once, not because it wasn't good in function, but because I tried a foul juice that tainted any subsequent juice.

So she sees mine and gets all jealous wanting nice clear to clear yellow juices, while she looks like she's vaping a tar solution.

Any Ideas?

Is it possible THE WAY somebody vapes can cause this?

Why haven't I experienced this?

and Why haven't I had to change heads?

Back when I first got into RBAs and was still using silica wick I had to run fairly low wattage because it just wouldn't wick very well and anything higher burnt... As a result my coils ended up looking like some sort of black tar swamp thing by the end of the day... I mean they literally looked like that had black crap growing out of them... One of the side effects of this I noticed was that ANY juice I put in after just a little swishing around would turn very dark and nasty looking...

Once I got better at building, and especially once I started using cotton I ran much much higher wattages... I've noticed as a result my wicks and coils run VERY clean now, even after extremely heavy use... and with the very same juices I was using in the past.

So I'm wondering... In her case, even if she's using the same topper as you, is she vaping at a much lower voltage/wattage than you? Maybe she is just running a very cool vape and it's gunking up the coil very quickly?

Neither of us is using an RBA (Well I am but just for 2 days so far*) she's running an Aerotank, and an EVOD tank, I'm running an Aero Mini and a PT3 Mini.

We are both Vaping mostly at 3.8V

*- Just got a EHPRO Kayfun Clone, and I think the dude screwed me over at the B&M, by making me a 1.05 Ohm coil to go on my Spinner 2. Now according to everything I read, I should have at least a 1.8 ohm coil on that. Going back tomorrow morning.

Entirely possible. As far as running her PV really hot can contribute to the problem.

That and that would lead me to believe you two are using very different liquids or flavors. Are you?

Any time you run a coil hotter than needed you risk cooking the flavoring and sweeteners in a liquid. That's one possibility.

In general, the darker and sweeter a liquid is the faster it's going to muck up a coil. If she's laying on the dark bakery & sweet stuff this is gonna happen.. Even then, it doesn't necessarily have to be all that dark either - just going to happen with some flavors.

For example, on one extreme there is White Wine from Mt. Baker. It starts out water clear - but you can't get through two tanks fulls before "water clear" has turned dark, dark brown in the process. Even at the lowest voltage/wattage that flavoring gets so dark when exposed to heat it's disgusting to look at. Still tastes great - can't get past the color change.

The other extreme - a Cappuccino by Sharkjuice that's so dark it's opaque to start. Practically black. It trashed two coils in a matter of hours, turning to sludge in the process. Tastes great - totally unusable.

And not all flavorings are created equal. The place she's getting liquids from could be using the wrong kind of flavorings. (Like for cooking...)

So look at the voltage/wattage setting being used. More isn't always better. And it may time to try a completely different brand of liquids. Whatever she is using now it just might be the right (wrong) combination of the wrong sweetener, too much sweetener, with the wrong source of flavorings that is giving her grief.
