Because taste is so subjective, not only among different individuals, but within the context of ones own personal environment, I have adopted a few ground rules for evaluating and enjoying vaping juices.

I am reminded of a TV show from the sixties. Contestants were blindfolded with their noses clamped closed, and asked to identify several different kinds of meat. Every one of the contestants failed to identify the type of meat they were chewing, from taste alone.

I find that the taste likewise disappears from many of my vaping juices, if I pinch my nose while vaping, even though I know beforehand the flavor I have chosen. Of course if some of the actual juice happens to reach my lips, it exposes the true flavor.

Taste is a very tricky thing, so the rules I have developed are very simple:

1)
Always vape through the nose and mouth when testing, or just enjoying flavors.

2) If you saturate your taste buds with several different flavors during a session, it may take up to 24 hours or longer for your sense of taste to reach “neutrality”

3) The only way to know the true potential of a flavor is to vape it exclusively for a full day (this of course, excludes juices that are dismissed immediately for poor quality).

4) Vaping a juice mix exclusively for a full day is also the only way to arrive at the perfect mix for a particular self made concoction. If you attempt to modify a flavor while vaping other flavors…well you can see the problem with that.

5) If a flavor registers 8 or 9 out of a possible 10, put it aside for a week or so. Later, you may find yourself pleasantly surprised.

6) Bad side effects? Have it replaced by the supplier, or throw it out immediately!

7) If a juice is not downright awful, and doesn’t cause bad side effects, it can always be used as a buffer, or be buffed with something else, and extended, as opposed to being thrown away. Unless of course, you are among the fortunate few, to whom money is of no importance.

8) If you just quit analogs and your first session with vaping was like a journey through a fetid swamp. DONT PANIC! You were just unlucky enough to start out with some “bad” juice. There are about a zillion other flavor choices out there. All the way from, 0 nicotine to “undiluted use of this stuff will kill you”.
