Hi everyone,

I know this is a common topic, but seriously this is driving me crazy like really crazy.

I am getting less/ no taste with my skill rda.

Buulds? I have do many builds trying different styles coil and wicking styles!!

I get less taste My latest build is duil coils twisted reading at. 32ohm vaping at 40,50, 60, even 70w It kills me big time!!!!

I am using puff cotton that i bought from GB, coil master kit cottons and even the one that comes with demon killer

You'll need a few more posts before pics work for ya. Welcome to ECF.

Now, on an RDA, the position of the coils means a lot. Air flow as well.
What kind of wire are you using? What gauge? How many wraps?

I build all of my rdas the same, 6wraps 24g 2.5mm ID, comes out to .28

Try not to put the coils too close to the center.

thanks both, we i tried different pre-made coils at different gauge, lastly i tried dual coil coil twisted 26*2.

the one that i enjoyed the most and the flavor was AMAZING was clapton pre-made by demon killer.

honestly speaking, i just made a new build 6 wraps, 3mm, clapton 26+30 made the coils as far as possible, with a Scottish wicking style.
i just made it right before i started this reply.
i dont know but it is still the first few vapes i am taking with this build, (i also keep hearing people complaining about their first vapes after re-wicking. (i am just the same now.

will post an update shortly

here is the new just built build ;P

what did i do wrong!!

i dont wanna go back to sub-ohm tanks :(

Im going to be honest and not beat around the bush.

Lose the claptons/twisted/ artsy coils.
There is too much metal mass and too many variables for anyone to sort your issues with those things installed.

Try a simple single strand dual coil build like @Kprthevapr suggested and we can more easily diagnose your issue.

Once sorted, you can then go back to those artsy coils if you like.

I agree with the last couple post. Ditch the claptons. Wrap single strand duals and start over. Use the K.I.S.S. method and figure out what's going wrong. You may even find that you like single strand better than this claptons. I build staggered fused claptons, staggered claptons, alien claptons the most for my friends but I find I'm building dual single strand coils with either 22g or 24g SS wire the most and have no problems and seem to find I like them better. Doesn't take me 20-30 to wrap the claptons (depending on which clapton I'm building and how many coils I'm building along with wrapping the coils) Takes me maybe 5-10 min to wrap coils, fix hotspots if any, wick, juice up and vaping. Doesn't take as long to ramp up as the exotic coils do and get just as good flavor and vapor.

Once you find out a resolution to the problem if you decide to go back to claptons and/or other exotic coils you can do that. Hope you find out what's going on. I'm gonna stay tuned to see what comes of this issue. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, i do agree with you all, i was actually planning to do the same, i have just made the exact same build, 2.5mm 24g dual coils starting low and going up.

honestly, it is my very first vapes on this build, i cannot find it, but i do can find the taste with the sub-ohm.

it is like a very low level of taste
did i do anything wrong with the coil? the cotton? my sense of taste (that is not possible, as i can taste better with the sub-ohm).

i tried it with three AFCs, and now with 2AFCs,

what is going on with me?!!

How big are the air flow holes? Do your coils line up with the air flow?

you are reading my mind :)

the air flows are like 2*2mm three in each side (Skill RDA) as they say the goon killer ( i would say it is killing me not the goon ;P)
it is mid night here, i could not sleep without getting into this deeper.
i just push up the coils to line up with the air flows, but the coils got closer to the center right before you posted your reply, i believe we are getting there. currently i am vaping the pound it, i dont really get the lemon taste . i will keep trying in the morning

thank you guys, i will keep you posted and truly appreciate everyone's time

I would push the coils closer to the post and put a 2.5mm post in the coils and raise the higher so that you have plenty of room under your coil for airflow. Also make sure your cotton isn't bunched up under the coils so there is room for the air to flow under the coils then up through the coils to the drip tip. It may help with the amount of air flowing through the RDA. That can add to the flavor. As other people has posted in this thread, make sure your air flow holes are right in front of coils also.

BTW, when you say sub ohm, that means any coil or group of coils on a RDA, RTA that is under 1 ohm so anything from .01 to .99.

Probably raise the coils high until you can see only the half bottom of the coils from the airflow holes, I get the best flavor from my RDAs doing this, and position it as close as possible to the posts.
And tbh im with the others, ditch the claptons, more mass, more power to heat up, not that different vape experience (at least for me), I prefer twisted wires if I want "fancy coils" than clapton.
my current build is dual 10wraps spaced 26ga SS316L at 50 watts, 3mm ID, reading at ~.38ohms, smooth crisp flavor all day.
I heard good things about Skill RDA, I'm planning to get one myself. Hope you figured this out.

well, i am confused now, should i make the coils closer to the post or away from the post!!

the cotton is not blocking in air flow, there is enough space for the air to flow nicely.

what i mean by sub-ohm tank, is something like SOMK big baby

Airflow is the biggest variable.
Move the coils around and experiment.
Coil placement is key.
Your tastes are going to be different than everyone else so you'll need to do the fine tuning to suit you

If your looking for flavor, space the coils. Give a chance for the air to flow between the wraps.

Dont do this.
This isnt going to help.
