Tearing my hair out! SnowWolf 200W LE low vapour production. Not locking resistance either?

I have a 0.08ohm nickel ni200 setup single coil. My SnowWolf doesn't lock the resistance and most of the time the temps/wattage/voltage drop so low that it pulses small bursts of vapour every other second. Looks like it's the wattage that goes down to 0.0W and starts pulsing the coil.

Uploaded a video to YouTube to demonstrate my problem.

See attached image of coil build (spaced nickel ni200)

Checked a few guides and ended up trying the following:

- Left coil to sit until cold
- Pressed (-) and fire button together
- Pressed (+) to confirm cold coil

When firing, the resistance still jumps up and down as with every other figure like wattage, voltage and degrees. It's hit and miss with giving me a lot of vapour production as soon as I lock in the resistance while the coil is cold.

If I lock the resistance after taking a quick vape (so the coil is a little hotter, resistance is locked in at between 0.10-0.12ohms) the vapour production is a lot higher (although all the units on the mod still jump around).

Is there a trick to setting this thing up properly in TC mode?

Haven't been able to run TC properly at all. Makes me want to go back to kanthal but the thing I like about TC is that it hasn't burnt out my cotton as of yet.

Tearing my hair out on this... Help?

First off I don't have that mod. But some mods show the live resistance even after locking the cold resistance. I don't know if the SW falls into that category though. In TC I run at 420-450F depending on juice and mood. I'm also usually between 30-40 watts because I use low mass coils (Dual 28ga SS430). I'm not sure what your settings are but give those a try and see if anything improves.

Cheers,
Steve

Edit If you have a different RTA or RDA, try using that. Some atty's just aren't good in TC because they for whatever reason aren't stable resistance wise. One of the tings I really like about DNA200 mods. You can screw on the atty, hook it up to Escribe, go into atomizer analyzer and see if the resistance is stable or if it's jumping all around. Just trying to eliminate possible problems. If you haven't done so already, try cleaning the 510 of the atty and mod. I use a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol. Good luck!

Thanks for your input Steve but looks like I'm still having the issues no matter what settings I try. The wattage drops right down to 0.0W

The mod is meant to be locking the resistance just like kanthal from what I understand and shouldn't be adjusting.

This guy also has this issue with the mod (@ 5min 55sec):

I'm currently using a Velocity RDA (don't have any other atty at hand but will try my Mutation X4 when I have access to it). Leads seem to make good contact, 510 connection is clean on atty and mod but still drops to low temps.

I've rebuilt the coil on a 9 wrap, 3mm @ 0.12ohm but the issue remains.

It's strange that as soon as I lock the resistance in after taking the shortest of vapes so the resistance is now 0.13ohms, the temp control starts working nicely (not sure how long though as I can't work it out when it starts to drop but I know it's definitely dropping when the coil is locked in cold).

Is this a DNA200 mod by the way? Always wanted to know what chip is in this thing. Will have to look into Escribe, looks interesting (new to DNA200 stuff having owned a Sigelei 100W prior to the SW).

For the record, I'm done trying to make this thing work (unless someone can come up with a solution). I've tried almost everything with this damn thing.

- Single / dual builds
- Spaced / tight coils
- Adjusting degrees and wattage to no avail.
- Bought fresh VTC5 batteries just to make sure the discharge was good.
- Cleaned atty from 510 connection and made sure post screws were tight as hell (without breaking the nickel).
- Took off atty, left it off for a day, reattached it to the mod as a new atomizer, still the same low wattage issue and resistance not locking properly (I really don't believe this thing has live resistance as I've seen from other videos of the older chip working flawlessly).

I give up on it. It's a brilliant device for kanthal but buyers beware if you are going to use it for TC, this isn't the device for you! Get a DNA200 mod instead. This doesn't support SS either which I'd rather vape on.

I fell in love with this mod because of the aesthetics but I wish Asmodus / Laisimo just release a DNA200 version of it instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

Used for 2 weeks, goes onto the shelf. Ordered the Lavabox DNA200 instead (which is not my favourite looks wise as I don't like the sporty looking ones but it's the less offending looking ones using DNA200).

I have two Lavabox's in my DNA200 aresenal. I think you are going to like it. The only possible downside might be battery life. You can always get the 1300mah 3s extender pack. Another mod you might have liked is the Hcigar VT133 (2 x 18650 DNA200). It's capped at 133 watts like all DNA200's that use 2 cells in series. It's been on a great deal at ~$83. I bought 3 of them.

If you have any questions setting up your Lavabox. Don't be afraid to ask!

Great collection Steve!

If you have any csv files I can hook my mod with using eScribe, shoot them over via PM please! I'm looking into the software while I wait for my mod to arrive :)

Ordered myself a UD 26AWG SS 316L wire too, might need a hand later on when I do the build on how to get it set up via Steam Engine and the TCR stuff.

Thanks.

This thread might help you with setting up a DNA200:
Tips For Setting Up a DNA200 Mod (FAQ)

I need to figure out how to upload my ecig file. That would have everything you might need. Profiles for Kanthal (Power Mode), Ni200, Ti01, SS316, SS430, mod resistance, case thermals - basically the whole 9 yards.

Cheers,
Steve
