From what I've read and been told by those evil pain inducing people in the dentists office... smoking and nicotine causes your veins to constrict.

vaping appears to deliver less nicotine or at least the size of the nicotine molecules are larger and not absorbed as efficiently as from smoking tobacco.

Could be you are experiencing increased blood flow in your mouth and dental areas as a result of quitting smoking and that has riled up the nerves in your teeth... It's a possible side effect of quitting. Give it some time and if it doesn't go away... maybe a trip to the dentist is in order.

I hate suggesting that to anyone other than people I hate... Dentists and especially oral hygienists are just evil and enjoy inflicting pain on others. If I hear the words... your gums bleed easily... why do I have to point out that when sharp pointy objects are stuck into my tissue anywhere on my body... I'm gonna bleed!!! Those people paid thousands of dollars for medical school and not a one of them learned that simple fact!!! Sorry about the tangent... did I mention I hate dentists..?

x2.

My advice would be to drink more water and to use a sensitive toothpaste (Sensadine, generics work well too) until you can see your dentist. Your gums are healing themselves from many years of smoking and are bound to have some areas that aren't being protected.

I drink A LOT of water, close to a gallon a day so I am not dehydrated. I will look into sensitive teeth toothpaste, but this doesn't feel like it is part of a sensitive tooth problem. It feels more like pressure in my teeth, as I tried to describe in my OP.

Thanks for the link. I just don't really know where the pain I am feeling would fall in an all-in-one description (if that makes any sense). Maybe I am confusing the pain in my mount to sensitive teeth, or something like that. I have not seen any articles or posts describing the pain I am experiencing in the way I have described it, so I am not sure if an article such as that is even commenting on the type of pain I am feeling.

I hear ya; I get the frustration of dental pain, I really do. My only suggestion would be to see a professional. Dentists deal with teeth, Pariodontists deal with the gums and everything under them relating to dental health.

Once when I was having a lot of pain I associated it with my dental health when actually it was a collapsed sinus causing the pain. Although, it all started with my dental health. My jaw bones had degenerated so badly that the sinus on the left side of my face didn't have any structural support to hold it up any longer. They had to do what's called a sinus lift and also graft my jaw with titanium.

Hey, I'm just glad I didn't kill your thread! Most people run for the hills when I drop that little nuget of info on them.

WOW! I really hope that is not the problem I am having.

I don't think it is possible for me to drink any more water. I already drink at least 6 bottles of water a day, if not more. I usually go through at least a gallon of water a day, give or take a few cups....

Dehydration is DEFINITELY not the problem, but I appreciate the advice.

The biggest downside to vaping is hydration. If you're active, it's really tough to vape and stay hydrated. I'm an avid cyclist, I do it for a living. I average anywhere from 40-60 miles a day. It's pretty much impossible for me to stay properly hydrated and vape.

I too have experienced similar tooth pain from vaping. It's either hydration for PG/VG/flavorings. I would say it's from the combo. Anecdotal evidence has led me to believe vaping is bad for your teeth.

Oh... I doubt that, unless you made similar poor choices in early adulthood. A body can only take so much abuse before it starts failing, you know?! I had to learn that the hard way.

I definitely made some REALLY bad decisions, but the thing is I am still young (early 20s) so hopefully it hasn't caught up with me yet :(

This thread came up at a strange time for me. I have been vaping / cigarette free for 4 months (on 04.25.14).

I have always had minor issues (temperature sensitivity) with my teeth which I attributed to the 2 PAD 37 year habit. I go to the dentist every 6 months for a cleaning and always have.

Last night I was telling my wife that another benefit to vaping besides spending our child's inheritance was that my teeth feel awesome. My teeth simply feel Great!

(As far as hydration goes - water does not do it for my body. I was forced to switch to sports drink's and an occasional coconut water).

Very sorry to hear you're going through this Cave, no one likes dental pain.

I have to admit that I too thought vaping was causing problems for me with my teeth and gums but was hard to say for sure as I recently had a very tough extraction and that could have been the cause. That being said, and this may sound overly simplified, try using a tank or RDA that has a looser draw for a while and see if that helps. I noticed I was vaping like a madman and was starting to feel the same sort of sensations you describe, like my teeth were being pulled into the middle of my mouth, and just by luck noticed that if you sort of pretend to suck a thick milkshake through a staw without parting your lips you will get the same sensation. I switched to an Aspire Nautilus with a much airier draw as well as mostly open RDAs and the problem has all but gone away.

Give it a shot, can't hurt and good luck!

It was about a month in that I was getting serious tooth pain. Related to wisdom tooth w/ cavity and existing fillings. It's well know that smoking desensitizes the nerve endings by reduced blood flow.

Sweeter juices were worse avoid them for now. Thera breath or closys mouth wash for a minute or 2 took the pain away, these are both excellent products due to main ingredient.

Good news is after about 3 weeks of this the tooth pains passed and have not returned even with sweeter juices. So tough bit out and vape the least sweet vape you got.

My thoughts.

Vaping is know for causing dehydration which causes dry mouth, headaches etc. Tooth sensitivity to pain increases big time when your teeth and gums are dehydrated. I'm betting since you quit smoking you are vaping more to compensate for the lack of smoking which is bringing you to a certain point of dehydration that is really effecting you now.

Try drinking a lot more water and see if that helps. This kind of explains it.

"This problem often happens when gums recede and/or cementum is not presence. The gum tissue acts like a protective blanket to cover the roots of the teeth. As the gums recede the underlying tooth roots are exposed. They are not covered by hard enamel. Thousands of tiny dentinal tubules (channels) leading to the tooth's never center (pulp) are than exposed. These tubules allow more stimuli like heat, cold or pressure to reach the nerve in the tooth and you feel pain!. Think of your gums and the enamel on your teeth as a down comforter covering and protecting your body from the cool winter air."

I have experienced something very similar, I don't really blame it on the vaping though. This seems to be the most likely cause to me after a lot of trial and error trying to figure out what's causing it. If my teeth begin to get sensitive I take a swig of water and swish it around my mouth, sensitivity gone. I really do think it has something to do with the vapor drawing out the moisture in your mouth. You may be ultra hydrated throughout the day but if you're not keeping your mouth hydrated while you're vaping it'll get dry quicker than you think.

I think that might be partially it too, because before I made that post a started making fish faces and pretend like I was sucking on my drip tip and I would get the same sensation when I would go to draw in. I think it has to do with the heat of the vapor combined with the pressure from my draw but I also think that the ingredients in some of my juices may be making it worse because something about my vape is making the pain much much worse then my pretend draw.

I am happy to hear it has gone away with time for some of you. I think that might also be the problem, the sweetener in the juice. If I eat a candy bar my teeth start hurting really bad so my current ADV is a RY4 that is heavy on vanilla and is sweet so maybe the added sweetener is just really hurting my teeth. It still doesn't explain that pressure feeling I am getting in my teeth though (that magnet in teeth description in my original post).

I did notice that a good 60 seconds of using mouthwash helps/cures the issue, but I don't want to be using mouthwash all day long. I just want to vape all day without issue. Why does everything have to be so complicated
