I was wondering if anyone could help me with a customer problem. He just received his Precise 18650 and he told me it works fine with an 18650 battery, but when he puts in two tenergies, it gets hot right away, which would indicate a short to me. Is anyone running the tenergies in their Precise 18650s? Has anyone had this problem with the tenergies before in their Precise?

He also indicated he is using 3.5ohm HV 510 atomizer from Ikenvape, is anyone else using these atomizers? I suspect maybe his center post of the atomizer got pressed down too far and shorted out? Or perhaps my center post is too wide for these atomizers?

Thanks for your help.

510 attys are easy culprits for shorting when overtightened on any adapter, particularly one made of an overwhelmingly superior strength metal such as stainless steel. maybe have the customer take a pic of the atty post and send it to you. this is likely the issue, a not so uncommon one at that, and if so you'll be able to identify it immediately.

EDIT: perhaps it's not fair to say that 510s are anymore susceptible than other attys, but i believe the male threading on the 510 may lend the end user to be a bit more forceful when threading it into the adapter, and these types of attys, unlike 901s and 801s, have center posts that are actually raised above the threading and the rest of the adapter making them the first point of contact. but without knowing much else in this particular situation, i suspect that the real culprit, regardless of atomizer types, is the silicone grommet that holds the atomizer center post in place. this may be remedied by using a toothpick or paperclip or something similar to pull that center post back out a bit, but it won't change the likelihood that the overheating resulted from a direct short, rapidly discharging the batteries, and leaving them with highly questionable safety from this point on. along with cautioning the user against over-tightening atomizers in the future, i'd also recommend the aw lifepo4 when the time comes for a battery replacement.

I use the blue tenergys 3.7V 900 mAh no problem. I also use IkenVape's atties including the one you mentioned. Again no problem.

I did post that I had a near runaway using the AW 3.0V LifePO4s with a 3.5Ohm 801. That was because of the adapter, slightly shorter than the one you provided, for some reason it shorted the atty. When I fired the unit a second time this is when the over-current situation developed, and trust me it didn't take long. That adapter has since been tossed and no problems using my 801s since, with both sets of batts. Hope this helps.

I have had my P16 get hot and short when the Atty was tightened to far. The 510 Attys should have the center post protrude away from the threads. In Iken addies I have seen where the center post was to far past the threads. Think inny and outty bellybuttons. I just make sure I watch what type of addys I put on my P16 and I have no problems. The problems I have had has always been b/c of the addy not having the separation between the center post (+) and the threads (-).

Hope this helps....
