OK so I've been vaping on mech mods for about 4 months now and have had no issues. I'm on my 3rd rda and mod. I just purchased a FU mech mod with the dark horse(pegasus) rda. I've been using a mutation v2 for months and have had zero problems as it is absolutely incredible. Now I buy this dark horse rda and the cotton is still wet after about 3 or 4 hits I start getting the most disgusting dry hits ever. I've made new coils and rewicked a few times using more/less cotton and nothing is fixing the problem. Is it just the rda or am I am idiot?

what is the ohms of the coil that are producing the nastyness??
also, what type of wicking and how much are you using?
usually a wet wick with a dry burnt taste indicates the wick is too tight ( too much wick) cutting off the capacity to rewick inside the coil area before another hit is taken...

If you're using a micro coil or the wraps are touching it may be from a build up of flavouring on the coil, then it burns, don't know? Cheers.
Sorry probably should have given some backround. I have a dual coil build 26 gauge kathal with sterilized cotton. Ohms are at .3 with a efest 18650 2500 mah imr battery. I built the same way as I was on the mutation for months!
if the coils/wicks are the same and the juice is the same and the mod is the same.... then I would imagine that there is an airflow issue... not cooling the coil well enuf... and the coil is still cooking the juice after letting off the power... 26ga at .3 ohms stays hot for a couple of seconds after the power is off
Well it's not the same mod...I had a tesla M5 but bought the FU yesterday with the rda. The coil does continue to burn a bit afterwards but the only thing that's making me scratch my head is the wick is still SOAKED in juice. I could hit my tesla with the mutation about 7 or 8 times with that build the juice would be gone...the cotton dry...but no dry hit. This on the other hand is still wet and only after 3 or 4 hits it decides to give me a dry hit. It could be the airflow because the mutation had 9 holes on each side. This has one slit of each side.
See how it does at .5 ohm. For whatever reason it's using liquid faster than it can wick.

Thanks I'll give that a shot when I get home. I can't complain about the power this mod/rda has. It's .3 feels like a .1!
I have the dark Horse RDA. I am very new to this aspect of vaping but for what it is worth......
I have noticed that the wick can still look pretty wet but sometimes the top of the wick by the coil is a little dry after a few puffs. Maybe that is your problem?

It could be. Another problem I have with this rda is the posts kind of touch and the screws don't stay in tight. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
If the posts in the RDA are, in fact, touching one another, then you're going to get a short no matter what you do. imo return the thing as something is very wrong with the rda itself.
The posts should not be touching. I just checked both of my Dark Horse RDA's and neither of them have the posts touching. Also the screws on mine stay tight.
Well I just checked again and they're not touching but they are REALLY close. Also the screw on one side will not stay down. I even changed the screw because they have me spares and same problem. I'm going to get and contact Tobeco to see if maybe I should get a new one. Maybe I should go back to my Mutation in the meantime.
cotton has a tendancy to swell inside the coil when it gets wet, making the wicking capacity drop... ever consider rayon?
