I use Cotton Bacon exclusively on RDAs (Std and BF) & RTAs & RDTAs, TC & non-TC, Kanthal, SS, and Ti coils with No Issues or nastiness. Just good ol' Tasty Vapes.
So, as QcVaper eluded to,,, it's gotta be either in the way you are Wicking and/or Building (no offense intended).
Perhaps;
Too much/little Wick for Coil I.D. starving the Build,
Dirty/Tainted Wire (always run Wire thru an Isopropyl soaked cloth a few times before coiling),
Improper Tail placement (check out a few Tutorial Vids on the Atty you are building to confirm),
Old oxidated or skunked Liquid,
etc...
Check and confirm all other Variables in the Build-Equation. Betcha a ton your issues aren't born of the Cotton Bacon inherently.

You'll figure it out and get to TastyTown.

I have heard such good things about cotton bacon but I've rewicked my rda 4 times with it and it's been a nasty hit every time. Is there a certain way to wick with cotton bacon?

Need to post a pic of how you are wicking, that'll give people a better idea of how to help you. I've used CB, though I prefer Muji since I can get it cheaper and I personally find it easier to use, everyone is different.

What about it tastes bad? Does it not have flavor, is it burnt tasting? Need a little more info. What were you using before CB and what is your coil setup?

i started off using cotton bacon...never had any issues with it tasting bad...unless
i had too much, or too little, in the coil. every RDTA/RDA/RTA/insert_yours_here is different, so are the coils, and therefore need varying approaches. as others have said...some pics or more info would be of benefit.
i now fly the flag for rayon...and carry the card. only wicked with cotton twice in the last 3 months. nothing wrong with it but it's rayon, rayon, rayon all the way for me (though this requires a mostly different approach...things learnt are things, mostly, worthwhile).

I dig rayon so much too. Since I didn't have too many cotton skillz as it were, I didn't have to do a ton of adjustments, just learn to wick. But, I am a fan of rayon as well. Plenty of cotton folks to get you sorted out however, we need pics though, as Lupinehorror is correct, every build and coil is slightly different and may require a different approach.

I actually find that annoying as to me, wick is the "last step" before success, so I always want it to be easy, but it's actually difficult and there is quite an "art" to it, and it can be difficult to be successful at first. I did lot of weeping/seeping before I started getting my wicking right, and dry hits also.

spot on but it is something one can perfect with practise...then a new tank comes along and the sweet spot hunt begins again in earnest
as Anna said...plenty of cotton connoisseurs around here who will help you out.

I've used bacon for years, tried others and always come back. Like other cotton it swells when it gets wet so it should be tight but pulled through the coil with ease. I also thin my tails to improve wicking. I use tweezers to thin the cotton which I believe improves the wicking.

Are you wicking more successfully with other material/cotton? If you get good results with other cotton types, you should be having no probs whatsoever with CB. I just find it a little easier to work with...

I found Muji pads and never tried cotton bacon. Muji is about $7 for a lifetime supply.

Honestly, I think you could use a Bounty paper towel and eventually get a good vape once you get the wicking technique down for that tank.

It's an art form and every tank is different. I've found that what I used to think was "too much cotton" turned out to be just right for one tank and too much for another.

A pic or two would be great. There are many pairs of experienced eyes here, some of which have probably used your tank and know its tricks. Some of'em might use cotton bacon. Bounty not so much. :)

Hi and welcome. Cotton Bacon is excellent, for a wick that isn't rayon. I also think it's probably how you're wicking your unit, rather than anything wrong with the material itself. Pics on that, please. And yes, there's always a "break-in" taste for a while on a new wick with any type of cotton.
