As a new e-smoker I hope this thread helps other newbies not to make the same mistake I made yesterday. I got my beautiful new DSE901 from Puresmoker yesterday afternoon and immediately started puffing away on it. It was fantastic! Now, my hubby had very little interest in my penstyle but I knew when I ordered the mini with the blue LED that he'd be taking it from me when it got here so I ordered a couple of extra atomizers and an extra battery. He came home and saw mine and of course immediately said he wanted one. Feeling like the greatest and smartest wife ever because I had predicted this, I smiled and went to the bedroom to put his together then handed it over. He puffed away for a few seconds then came in to ask me if it was supposed to get hot. I told him that it would get a bit warm, he said no, this is so hot I can't touch the top part. I immediately assumed it was a bad atomizer and figured no problem, I'd just switch it out with the other extra atomizer. This one did the same thing. I then assumed the problem was the original battery and hooked that battery to the first atomizer and got the same result. Long story short - I managed to fry 3 batteries and 2 atomizers all because of one bad atomizer. It apparently fried each of the 3 batteries when I put it on them which then caused those batteries to kill the other 2 atomizers when I put them on them. From my guesstimation, when the batteries were fried the pressure switch was stuck in the on position. Everytime I would place an atomizer on one of the batteries it would immediately get very hot and the wick would glow orange.

Soooo....the moral of the story is this. If you get a faulty part don't test it on all your other good working parts to try and figure out the problem. Contact the seller immediately and get their advice on what you should do. Second moral - I now don't trust these atomizers and batteries hooked together when not in use. Better safe than sorry, so if I'm not using mine and it's in my purse, pocket, on my nightstand or what have you I alway unscrew the battery from the atomizer just to be on the safe side. And now for the third moral of this story. Buy from a reputable supplier!!! I explained the entire situation to Cash (Steve) from Puresmoker last night and my replacements are to be in the mail today. Although I fully admitted that part of the problem with these was user error he chose to replace them for me. No price can be placed on customer service like that! Once again Steve Rocks! :thumb:

hmmm, i got my friend a 901 for a bday gift. I think the same thing happened to him, he thinks something shorted and the unit got very hot out of the blue, rather the battery or the atomizer, one killed the other. His was only a few days old.

So yes, I would agree not the leave it together unattended, you never know. It would be hard, however, for me not to get geeky and try to troubleshoot by testing with other parts. i'll have to keep your tip in mind.

i ordered several 901 kits & extras. out of 10 kits, 10 extra atomizers, and 4 extra batteries, i had 1 bad atomizer and 5 bad batteries. not sure which caused the problems, or what part of it was operator error, but it sure made a mess of things, fast. after the first new atomizer was toasted, i used one of my older atomizers for testing the rest of the batteries, and then tested the rest of the atomizers with a good battery. i think the manufacturer needs to do something different in quality control. they are probably aware of such problems. maybe they are just playing the percentage game and not worrying about improvement. who knows? but it is frustrating and cash probably thinks i'm a pain in the ...., with all the messages. he does take care of his customers, though.

Just know, I tested every single one personally before it left here :)

I am gonna add a step to our testing though and test batteries on chargers before they leave here, as well, as testing each battery with more than a single atomizer.

I think the problem lies in certain atomizers being used with certain batteries. I had my own personal battery back in the day. Was using an atomizer for several days, put on a new battery I had been using with a 2nd device. The combination fried both the battery and the atomizer. If this is the case, not much you can really do as far as testing is concerned.

Just make sure, if you think you have something faulty, perhaps try with 1 other piece of equipment but don't use the same atomizer/batt on each piece, thus causing a chain reaction (ie: shann as example) :)

My cleaning methods are top secret !!! LOLOL

Actually, Since I have been using my Bastage USB, I just stick the atomizer on and press the on button for 3-4 seconds and I can hear it cook off. All done and ready to go!

Its amazing when you have full power at all times.... the atomizer almost if ever clogs. Actually, the past 3 days I don't think it has even the slightest of clogged. Stayed nice and clear, and cooked another atomizer of mine to see what it would do :)

srsly, I'd love to know how to properly clean mine in the mean time... There's almost too many opinions, and good/bad results...8-o

Exactly ...

Everyone has there own opinion on which cleaning method works best for them.

I have tried water/vinegar, and the boil method. Never lost a single atomizer to either technique, but I think I did have better results with the boil. just my $.02 cents. Take it for what its worth though ... face value! haha

Yeah yeah yeah, I know - I'm the poster child for what NOT to do in testing your equipment. It's ok though - I'm more than making up for it in new orders and referrals!!! :p
