Hi All,

After reading through loads of DIY info one thing came to my mind.

How do you all Test a new flavor/mixture out?

  • Do a mix, try straight after? determine if it needs more/less of something then try again?
  • Do a mix, steep for x days? determine if it needs more/less of something then steep again?
  • Do something completely different?

The reason I ask is I've read that after a mix, steeping can change the flavor. So how do you know you have it 'perfect' at the start? and if you steep each time then that could take a long long time testing.

More than likely I would try straight away, but there again, more than likely I'm wrong.

So, what is the best technique in Testing a new mixture?

Mix, shake, drip, taste...if it needs something I add something and make a note...shake, drip, taste...if it is close I set it aside and forget about it for awhile.

When I find it again, it usually tastes the same as when I stashed it, so I add a bit more... shake, drip, taste...if it's dead-on then I reverse engineer my notes and save the recipe with a note that it doesn't need steeping.

If steeping changes it, then I know that recipe is going to take awhile to get perfect...
