How are you guys doing tonight?
We got a small storm near us and puppy is upset. I need to get her out because there is a BIGGER storm coming!
Oh, sorry jj. I have a big dog that is terrified of storms. When I took the dogs to the vet the other day, I mentioned it to him. He said the "thunder shirts" are based on the fact that some dogs liking to feel something snug around them during a storm. He suggested at the next storm, to put one of my old T-shirts on him (at which point my 17-yr-old snickered, LOL). It might be worth a try. We've not had a storm since he suggested it, so I don't know if it will work for my pooch. But you might try it for your dog? He said to put their head and arms in it (as you would wear it) and tie the bottom around their torso so it is snug.
Well I might try it when the big one hits!!! Right now she is calming down so I'm hoping to get her out to go potty!
The big dog about tears the screen door off of our porch when there is a storm brewing. He can open the door by getting the knob in his mouth, if we forget to lock it. I have caught both of the dogs snoozing on our porch when someone forgot to lock the door, LOL. So, I gave up and just leave the door unlocked now. We are now looking for a screen door with a (big) doggie door in it

So many are coming and going I thought that would be the safest greeting!
Yeah those storms and pets are something else. We've just had one rumbling through here with some lightening and thunder but no rain ... I don't think.
The T shirt thing works pretty good on my wife. I put it over her head and then put her front legs ... I mean arms through it and tie it snugly around her waist. It seem to calm her down and then the dogs go lay on her and everybody's happy! Easy breezy!
Whew, what a day. Got all the boats worked on, got my deck boat all polished up and its sparkley and pretty and running good! Had my five year old grandson, A.J., driving the boat a couple times today and if you ever wanted to see a little kid with a delighted look on his face ... that was A.J. That little guy was soooo proud of himself and I'll bet this is something he remembers for a long, long time. And hopefully his Poppa will be a part of that memory.
That kid is something else and is probably one of two of my most loving grandchildren. That boy can't walk past me without stopping to give me a hug. I'm sure glad he feels that way.
Tomorrow a friend of mine and I are going to go help an old guy who is having some problems with his farm tractor. Real nice old man, but he just doesn't have the strength any more to do a lot of those things himself, so we're going to go help him. Their calling for some storms tomorrow afternoon, but his tractor is in a barn, so that shouldn't slow us down any. My other friend is a real good tractor mechanic, so I'm just going along as his helper more than anything else. He can do the fixin and I can do the goferin.
We have a chance of more storms Tuesday and Wednesday and a lesser chance on Thursday so I'm going to have to wait and see how this is going to affect my mowing. I sure am hoping I can get some mowing time in there though. I'm quickly running out of time.
Aside from the work we did at the lake on the boats, it was a real fun day. A friend came by with his real fast bass boat and took all the kids (and a couple of the adults) water skiing and the kids all had fun swimming and playing in the water. With one of my son-in-laws on the charcoal grill and the women in the kitchen, we had a real nice Mexican food dinner ... one of those meals that was so good that even though you were full you couldn't quit eating. But I was a good boy and took it easy on all that. I did drink a beer today though! First one in a very long time. But it was hot and that cold beer tasted pretty darned good.
So, another evening when I'm tuckered out and a big day coming up tomorrow. But its a "good" tuckered out and it was nice spending another day with a bunch of the family and a lot of friends.
