Where'd you learn to whisper? In a sawmill?
OMG, that was funny Mod!!! One of the best I've heard in a long time and I will be quoting you!!
We made it to Willcox, Arizona and am now ensconced (that's a word for Diesler!!) in our 38 foot long travel trailer enjoying roughing it and the primitive life style. You won't believe this. When we got to the trailer park they had the trailer all set up for us. I mean the slides out, air conditioning runningk, electricity hooked up, sewage and water all hooked up ... all we had to do was unload the truck and get moved back in. And DW says it feels like we're home again!
I don't know what our plans are as yet ... I know WHAT we'll be doing, I just don't know WHEN. And that's only because I haven't been told yet. Know what I mean? I know you guys know what I mean!
Hey kgj, yeah, we got out of Dodge before that 4.3 earthquake hit. For those of you who haven't been following this story, that was the second one in our area in a week. A 4.3 quake isn't anything they would even take notice of in California, but in East Texas, its a big deal! The main reason is that our homes are not built to withstand earthquakes. Since the 4.3 quake I'm told a couple families have had their brick fireplaces fall into their living rooms and a lot of broken water pipes, damaged furniture and decorations but only one minor injury. There are a significant number of people who have had damage to their homes, but guess what .... their home owners
insurance doesn't cover earthquakes.
Earthquakes are not something we normally have in Texas, so the insurance companies don't include it in policies unless it is specifically asked for and you have to pay extra to get it. I have an intense dislike for politicians and insurance companies ... I'm not sure in what order ...
Anyhow, we'll be avoiding the fires up toward northern Arizona too. One is near Payson, a favorite place of ours to visit. Its a beautiful town surrounded by stunning country. I hate to hear about those bad fires. And they are forecasting increased winds in the areas of the fires so they are expected to worsen.
But anyhow, like Ms. Free, we're "camping" and already having a grand, old time. Its too windy for a campfire and the park wouldn't allow it anyhow, but we have a nice oven and stove and microwave and fridge. Everything is working properly ... so I think I'll go sit on the couch for a while and take a nice Pokey nap and try to do my best with this pioneer living.
Oh, and Pokey, I loved your idea for the fried lizard franchise! A true stroke of genius! What a trio you and I and kgj would make!! We'd be fantastically rich with all of our brilliant ideas! We'd make that guy from Facebook look like a pauper!
LOL, anyhow, everyone have a nice afternoon and I'll be back on here later!
