Wow, this place seems dark and quiet.
I tried and tried to get back on here last night and the WiFi just wouldn't let me.
Honey girl had picked us up a new Mr. Coffee recently and cleaned it and ran a few pots of just water through it to get all the machining oils out. We normally use a different brand of pot but this one really does a good job. After this morning coffee I think I'm sold on it.
We made it to Tucson and had a fine time. I had bought a new stereo for my truck the last time we were out here and a couple weeks ago it quit working. So I ran it back by the
shop and the guy stuck a paper clip in the reset - he showed me where the reset is - and that's all that was wrong. Now I can play the music from my iPod on the truck stereo again. And I'm happy.
Tucson has two excellent radio stations on AM, one is a 50's Oldies station and the other is a 40's Oldies station. I spent a lot of time going back and forth between the two!! Then we were off to Mt. Lemon, a sight seeing trip I never tire of. I'll get the pics uploaded later, but they really don't do it justice and of course, pics are at the mercy of pull-over's, so there's some views that can't be captured. Its a spectacular ride but don't look for it in the pics ...you really have to go there to appreciate the beauty of it.
It was 105 degrees in Tucson and 78 degrees on top of the mountain at a little over 8,000 feet! The air up there is so clean it almost makes you think you've never breathed before.
Then back down to the valley and Luke's on S. Alvernon. DW had the beef on a roll with the
juice (au jus) and I just had to have the Italian sausage. I can't tell you how much I love Italian sausage and can never pass it up. The food was more than plentiful, delicious and everything kgj said it was.
Then on to the home of a relative and stayed way too late visiting. Its only a little over an hour drive to where our travel trailer is at, so although it was pretty late when we got home it wasn't real bad. And like I said, I tried to get on here and couldn't, so I got cleaned up and went to bed with a smile on my face. Real nice day!!
This morning we're both feeling a little achey, I think from climbing in and out of the truck so much to take pictures.
Today, honey girl wants to visit some of the local shops where she won't
buy anything (did I tell you she's a tightwad???) and I'll get to bake in the sun like a lizard on a flat rock. Oh, up on Mt. Lemmon we saw one of the biggest lizards I've ever seen. He (or she - I didn't get a close look) was lightening fast and in a small tree. We tried to get a pic of it, but this thing was so fast and so shy we never were able to do it. I kept thinking how proud kgj would have been to have this lizard on his cooking rock.
We plan on being here until Thursday or Friday and then I think ... take off for the Big Bend Country of Texas.
So the adventure will continue!!
