Is there a break in period on the coils, I keep getting this funky plastic taste on the tri coil so I'm not digging this tank at all..Thankfully I got Crowns and Starres in rotation.

My first proper alien and he's an idiot.
I've hear many comments about the bad taste part. Yes, the coils generally do have a brake in period of about 1 tank.

Just keep going and the taste will go away.

I have the tri-coils and the ni200s for my tfv4. The tri-coils typically 'break in' some time after ~3/4 of a tank for me - BUT the real problem I have with this tank is that these coils are superduperabsurdly expensive yet I'm lucky to get 4-5 days out them! And I am NOT going high wattage on them at all. I've been keeping it anywhere from ~3.2-3.6 volts - yet I start to get a persistent burnt flavor after just a few days...very annoying. The ni200s are only marginally better. I was thinking of trying the quads - but it's 20-22 bucks to 'try'. Also, I'm not completely crazy about the swivel top filling method. I've had the top 'pop open' on me a few times now. My jury is still out on wether I really like this tank. If I can find one of the myriad of available replacement coil configurations that works for me and lasts more than 4-5 days, then maybe...

I haven't tried the ni200 coils yet, but it seems that the quad coil does not get as hot as the tri coil. The RBA section is really nice, and does not get hot at all. I got a .19 nickle build in there right now and could not be happier. I flipped the gasket for the top fill part so the groves on facing up, and that keeps the lid nice and snug. I do use the bands that came with it though for extra protection from pulling it in and out of my pocket.
