Unbeknownst to me, I had hot spot issues with my titanium build.....thus the reason for some fiery hits. Fixed.
I'm new to this building stuff...I can't seem to get my titanium to turn blue? I don't want to burn it so far as to get the titanium oxide "white stuff", but checking for hotspots on titanium seems awful difficult. Only downside I see at the moment.
Decided to cut the wick at the tail end to a "V" shape and let the tail of the "V" hang out in the juice channel. This seems to be working, cause I can hit the atty fairly frequently without getting a dry hit and there's no flooding (bonus).
Yeah doing the "V" shape has become a standard wicking procedure for me. Of course wick lengths will vary between devices, but I always do the "V" thing.

I don't know...most things seem to be interchangeable between the two, but the RBAs may be an exception. Not sure.
I can't seem to get the dual coil RBA to keep the wick wet on the tfv4 mini. As it turns out, the juice channels just aren't large enough.

I'm using the TF-R2 (dual coil deck) on the TFV4 Mini and am having no trouble at 50W (0.3ohms). I use a lot less wick than you're using...how many watts are you shooting for?

I'm definitely going to try using less cotton. Any chance you could post a pic of your build? I've been going crazy trying to get it to wick right. I was just about to give up.
Ahhh don't give up! Well the pic below is all wet with juice, so I dunno how much you'll get from it...cut the wicks short, thin them out a bit maybe, and have the tips resting on the little platform above the juice channels. If you want more help I can try, but I'm new to all of this!

Well it does make me feel better knowing that it does work when done right. I'll definitely keep trying.

I had a hard time with it too...except it was leaking on me, so I used a little more cotton. These RTA decks can be a bear...

EDIT: Hah, look at my crap coils! I don't even know how many wraps that one is on the opposite side...I don't know how to keep my coils from looking like crap after I get done smooshing 2 onto a small deck like that. Anyway, looks like your cotton may be going too far down the channel...just want them on resting on top. Looks like my wet coils have fallen a bit, but it's still hitting like a champ.

Yah it's fun to tinker, I just want it to work. I just got this tank as an upgrade from my Subtank mini and It's the only other deck I've built on. I still haven't built on the RCA yet either.
Yeah...you'll find that different decks require very different wicking methods. Subtank is a great RBA though. It's a little more forgiving than some others.

If you want a beautiful RTA take a look at the Billow v2. The TFV4 is good but you have to get it just right.

Hey, Just thought I would say thanks. I tried another build today and it totally worked! One of the wicks was a little too thick but I was getting some awesome flavor. I'm going to give it another go once this quad coil looses its punch. I was definitely using way too much cotton.

No problem brother, glad you got it working. One thing I've learned in the short time I've been building, less is usually more when it comes to wicking. But then again if you use too little, it leaks, so...every deck is different. I've been thinking about starting up a log or a spreadsheet or something that reminds me the kind of wicking to do on every different RBA, 'cuz honestly sometimes I can't remember and have to learn all over again.

Anyways, congrats!

My Billow v2 is going to be here in like 2 hours! I am so excited for my first RTA!

I am really hoping to get a TFV4 Mini some time soon, though I would almost rather get it with the dual coil deck rather than just the clapton deck. I wonder, does the full kit come with both?

Cool! I've build on a variety of tanks and Billow v2 is my favorite so far! Watch Mike Vapes' review/build of the billow v2 on youtube, follow his wicking *exactly*, and you'll never look back :).

No, only the clapton deck. The dual coil deck (TF-R2) is pretty cheap though.

i dont think it was meant to be a dual build deck. why would you want to dual build on it anyway? i understand it would be cool to have two coils ramping up to produce more vape but ive come to the conclusion that the tfv4 and minis are meant to go as hard as the premade coils. i watched as many rebuild vids on this product and still got dry hits or lots of leaking. i went to two different vape shops looking for help and none could hit the nail on the head. i even thought of drilling a hole in the rba cap to provide more juice to my coil. i eventually thought of a new way to wick it. i basically prepped my cotton as if i was going to scottish roll. i stretched my japanese cotton and placed a bit of cottonmans cotton that matched the length of my japanese cotton pad. the cottonman cotton is a long fibrous cotton that sort of just moves the juice but not soak it. i rolled the cottons up like a joint lol and stuffed them in my coil. i then used a sharp nail to fluff it up. i made sure the long cotton rested in the juice wells and fluffed the rest up. i placed the cap on top with the rest of the cotton sticking out the top of the cap and after i screwed it on then proceeded to fluff it on top of the juice channels. as i predicted the long cotton fed to the japanese cotton inside my coil and the japanese cotton covered and blocked the excess juice ruiing up from my wells. ive had no leakage and proper wicking. only thing that sucked was the flavor of the cottonman cotton, but after a day it had broke in to where i dont taste the the natural flavor anymore.

I'd start a new thread, but there seems to be a few followers to this TF-RCA thread already.....

Wicking is the subject here:

I've wicked this thing just about every which way I can but it still seems I run into a situation where the juice can't make it to the coil fast enough; dry hits are occurring. Yes, I'm using a high VG juice, but this is the first atomizer, ever, that there has been an issue with juice flow (high VG) to the coil.

I have Cthulhus, Billows, Goliaths, Bellus, etc., (no issues with wicking) but this TF-RCA deck is driving me nuts with wicking issues! I've set the wick at the top of the channel, half way down the channel and all the way through the channel, thick cotton roll, thin cotton roll, teased cotton, not teased cotton.....

Any success stories out there?
i spent 4 hours of my work free daddy free day working on it, i tried to game that day but my game rested on pause while i tinkered with it, i had a table full of wicks and opted to drilling it out or selling it off. but my reply down low should help but after using the included coil i realized the smok team really didnt plan on providing rba users with the same luxury as its pre-made coil users. ugh i was so excited to hit this tank with rba at 80watts...... not to hopeful of that

In two of my TFV4's I'm using 3mm silika rope, cut off at the juice gutter on both sides. The rope fits tightly in the coil. (I'll cut my cotton wick off at the gutter as well)

While I generally run with fairly lower power in TC mode, the only issues I have is when filling - if I don't get the juice in the tank and the lid closed+a few draws to reintroduce vacume in the tank fairly quickly, I'll have juice leaking out the air holes on the bottom.
