Thank god Reos are mechanical.

So, I discovered today that you cannot trust digital chargers all the time. Had a pair of "freshly" charged Samsung 25R's that I threw into my battery case and went on my merry way shopping. One died since I had been using it since last night (I'm getting pretty good at feeling the 3.7 - 3.8ish range for remaining voltage); swapped it out with one I grabbed this morning. Went great for a little while and about an hour later, the vape just died on me so I thought something... went wonky, tossed the 2nd battery I brought, and same thing after an hour or two.

Got home threw them on my charger, they read 3.9v which I thought was odd as heck. Grabbed my multimeter. Nope. 3.1v and 2.8v; tossed them on my LUC....it still read them at LEAST 0.9v higher than what the multimeter and my vape was telling me. It's obviously been cutting my batteries off earlier than they should have been. With my previous regulated mods, I wouldn't have noticed cause they'll use their chip to draw whatever voodoo from what cell. My Reo is mechanical and only knows what voltage you suck from the battery; and thanks to getting it fixed and using it again, I may never have noticed this problem at all!

Sorry for my long rant, I think tomorrow I may skip another LUC and look for a NiteCore since I'm quite ...... with eFest right now.

Both have their benefits. I like regulated, but the Reo being a mechanical is amazing. Plus less to break when it's dropped. Sucks about the charger, I have a NiteCore now, my next charger will be a XTAR VP4
I love mechanical; if it breaks...replace parts. Not circuitry. Most of the repairs can be done at home for them, and all you need to know is battery safety which many SHOULD know. How do you like your nitcore? I'm looking at an I2 currently since I do like the readout; there's a few LUC's for sale locally but now I'm completely hesitant to deal with anything with that brand name on it. Fortunately I've checked my voltages and my batteries may have lost a bit of life in them, but they still hold a good charge for the time being, I'd be far more enraged if it killed off my 4 new 25R's LOL

I have the i2 and it works well for the year I have used it. I can tell its going downhill though. Even with contacts cleaned, I sometimes have to spin a battery to see if it's fully charged or not. Part of me wanting the VP4 is good rating, as shown by Sloth in an above post. It has the read outs and 4 batteries can be charged at a time. I don't blame you about batteries haha. I've only killed one battery for the sole reason of me not being able to rewrap batteries at the time it happened.

Ohh, makes sense and just noticed you're in Canada. I was googling trying to find local shops. You're right haha. Every site that shows products have Nitecore or efest. I usually try to support local shops here in Alabama, but if I want something and they don't have it and can't get it ordered I just do it online.

Well, along with Xtars I have 2 LUC chargers, both a 2 bay and 4 bay. They get used 24/7, are never turned off. Like with the batts off my other chargers, I check what the LUC's say against my Fluke 101 now and then and don't feel they have ever lied to me yet. They might be off a little sometimes, LUC shows 4.2, Fluke shows 4.17X-4.19X on any batt that will take a full charge. Not enough difference to matter to me. Is any smart charger as accurate as the Fluke? The 2 bay is going on 2.5 years old, the 4 bay I bought used from a member here about 5-6 months ago so don't know how old it is. So my experience with the LUC's has all been very good.

Given the preference for LUC's, I can't argue they're loved. And I may just have got a bum one; but between that, and their batteries having a lower continuous draw rating than what's plastered on the end....I may end up trying nitcore just to see whats up with them.

I got the Vp4, my wife and both have Reos and I thought I would need it, my mistake was not getting enough AW1600's, only bought 5. Live and learn.

That's ok, you can always get more, if needed. Or, you could be like me: Over run with batteries. I probably have 25 or 30 in rotation. I date them with a sharpie, when I get them. I have batteries over 3 years old, still in use. A few are the old AW1600s, with the older black labels, still going strong.

The drop resistance of reo's is amazing. I never drop mine, it seems like I throw it. I feel it slipping, quickly react to save it, and only succeed in swatting it. Best distance to date is approximately 12 feet.

I throw up in my mouth a little bit each time this happens but fortunately I can take a couple vapes to cleanse my palate.

Edit: just ordered a Nitecore D2. Been using my ipv mini 2 as a charger since I got the reo.

I used to feel bad about it, but its holding up so I can't feel too bad with some dings on it. Especially after super_x_drifter's stress test of hitting a fire pit and hitting it with a hockey stick haha. Even Sloth through his on the ground in a couple videos haha.

Well the local shop where I bought it originally about....3-6 months ago, just tossed me a new LUC for free and it seems to be dead on accurate between my multimeter and the charging display. Maybe the entire line just hates flat top batteries, I dunno but the new AWs are happily getting their juice now.

I have used a D4 for quite a while for my Reo and 18650 flashlights. Here is a review of the D2...
Test/Review of Charger NiteCore Intellicharger D2

I agree that you can't trust chargers and a multi meter is a good investment, even a cheap one.
I couldn't figure out whether it was a good or bad review until I read the conclusion. Lol. For 17 dollars I'm glad it's a good one. I figured it would be janky.
