I just wanted to stop in here an say thanks to everyone at ECF for all of the help and knowledge you're putting out there. I've been lurking a long time and have learned a decent amount from reading a little bit every day. The biggest difference maker was steering me away from those 7eleven e-Cigs. I wish more people knew about real vaporizers and about this site.

My story:
I've been smoking since I was 14 and had resigned myself to the fact that I'll always smoke. Over the years, I'm probably averaging 15 analogs (Newport 100s) a day. I'm not going to lie, I like smoking and if it weren't bad for me, I'd still be doing it today. But now that I'm 32, and have been smoking for more than half my life, I decided enough was enough. I took New Year's as a milestone to atleast start with a good honest effort. So I started Googling and landed here. After lurking and gleaning as much info as I could, I pulled the trigger on an eGo Twist C starter kit. The day it arrived in the mail, I still had half a pack of cigarettes in my pocket; it still sits on my desk today as a test and a reminder.

I've got to say, this is the easiest it's ever been to quit. I've tried the patch, gum, lozenges, and cold turkey over the years and none of that has worked and it was always a constant battle with cravings and withdrawal. It's only been a month, but I feel like I've gotten over a hump and am feeling pretty confident that I will never go back to analogs as long as I have my vape with me. There have been some close calls though: two weeks ago, both of my batteries shorted and would not charge and had to be sent back. In the meantime, I started to panic and was afraid I'd relapse to analogs. I took a trip to the 7eleven and bought some NJoy Kings and now I know why everyone here warns people off of those. Those things are awful and if I had started on those, and not known about true personal vaporizers, I'd no doubt have gone back to analogs by now. So thank you for that. And just out of curiosity, when my replacement battery came in, I opened up the carto and found that that wick was all melted. I don't know if I was pulled too hard on it or what, but I seriously felt ill afterwards.

Now over a month in, I feel better about quitting than I ever have at this point. There are times when I smell smoke and feel like I'm in a latter scene from Requiem for a Dream, and I sometimes even dream about smoking, but for the most part, I feel like analogs are finally gone from my life, where as in previous attempts, it always loomed over me.

So what's next? I'm currently on 24mg juice going through anywhere between 1.6ml to 2.0ml a day. Are most of you satisfied with continuing to vape or is the goal to quit that too. I have no plan. It's getting warmer in NY now, so I'm gearing up my fixie to see if I can't improve my respiratory performance this year. I don't know if vaping has any impact on that, but I'm sure quitting smoking will.

Anyways, sorry for the long post. Just wanted to put this out there for some reason and let everyone who posts here know how much of a difference they have made to me.

TL;DR: Thanks for the tips. Helped me finally quit smoking for good.

Great job! Even if you try an analogue now I'm sure you'll HATE the taste. I may eventually ween myself off nicotine, but as of right now I'm content vaping. It doesn't seem to have any notable effect on my health, and its pretty inexpensive. Well, its inexpensive as long as you find what works and stick to it, otherwise you'll go crazy buying all sorts of new gadgets and spend just as much on e-cigs as analogues! The eGo twist seems to be a favorite of many. Again, congratulations!!

I know man, I've been vaping for only 4 days. Yesterday, I lit an analogue for my friend. Didn't inhale the smoke, but the after taste was

I feel the same way as you. I have quit for quite a few months now, and it feels great. I caught the addiction quick, and vaping is honestly the best thing I could find! The smell of analogs honestly gets me sick now. But, I tell all my friends about this site, and they all get a huge eye opening when they use my e cig, and realize this is a better solution.

Your story is remarkably similar to mine. I'm also 32, started smoking in my mid teens and was convinced I'd never quit. I'm close to a month without an analog. (Whenever I see the word "analog", my brain sees ".... log". Not far off.)

I wasn't even thinking about quitting when I bought my first starter kit. I was just curious and liked the idea of getting my nicotine fix indoors. Quitting was nearly effortless.

If you cave in and light up one of those analogs, don't beat yourself up about it. Most likely, it'll taste like ... and remind you why you quit in the first place. Don't think of it as a relapse, think of it as reminding how crappy they are.

Cheers and congratulations!

awesome like your plan. pretty similar to mine. 1 month in . most of the nasty crap should be out of your body. as i feel like i just got over the hump today after a lousy weekend. the only thing left are the dreams and the next 2 months of trace chemical removal from your organs. 24mg right now . 16mg coming in the mail. as soon as it gets here i give away all my leftover 24 MG. plan to be at 0 nic at three months in. and hopefully put the PV in my drawer for emergency's. best of luck to you. awesome accomplishment :toast:
