ms kat,

This isn't like a diet or like earlier attempts to quit where one donut or one cig kills it. You need the nicotine and some visual feedback in the form of vapor or smoke. If patches and gum smoked, then they'd likely work. lol.

Once you get the nicotine and vapor from the ecigs you'll likely not need anything more (although some do). The way I ended up quitting is that I decided to hit the ecig first - then if I wanted a cigarette I'd have one. But once the nicotine hit the bloodstream the urge was gone.

I had an analog yesterday evening. I am really not sure why I had it, but this morning I felt as if I had smoked a carton of cigarettes yesterday. After only about 3 weeks of being off those analogs, I can no longer stand the feeling of having just one. Even now, well over 24 hours since my relapse, I still can still feel the effects of it. And to think that I was smoking about 40 of those a day and never gave it a second thought.

I did research, but forgot to order eJuice. The prefilled carts went within a couple of days, so I was smoking analogs until my new juice order arrived. Then I quit cold turkey and started vaping only. I got sick with depression and cried and moped around a lot. I bought another pack of analogs and smoked a couple only in the morning w/my coffee and a couple in the evening w/my wine. After the pack was gone, I tried it again, and I was fine and felt really blessed that it was less painless that way. I've been smoke-free now for 40 days. But if I still smoked a couple of analogs a day, that would okay with me too, I just don't have the urge with all the fabulous flavors in vaping juice. If you have any problems, just cut down a little at a time, no harm in that.

Congrats on 40 days! That is awesome.
I have been wondering if my mini depression I am having is from no smokes. I have dealt with depression my whole life and can usually feel it coming on especially the pms kind and deal with it after having it so long. Lately I have been feeling depressed more then usual and wondering if it isnt from lack of cigs instead of the pms kind. I really don't want to have a cig to find out though, after a yr of vaping on and off I have been cigarette free for about 16 days I think. My problem with cigs is if I have them is that I smoke them even if I don;t want one so I quit buying them. I saved a half .... to sniff LOL and My Mom next door still smokes so if I really had to smoke I could go get one.But I am choosing not to , if I have to go back on celexa I will. I guess I will see in the next few weeks how I feel.

I had a very stressful moment today and thought about a smoke but I didn't do it and was proud of myself for that.

Homeish now
Tobacco companies have been adding antidepressants to cigarettes for years now....(only way they could keep us happy paying 7.00 a pack...anyway)

When your "switching" to e-cigs...your ditching a whole lot of chemicals your body and brain has grown used to. It's not just the nicotine your addicted too. It takes time to balance things out again.
More then likely there will be some withdraws. Work through it things will get better :)

I will see what I can find that is homeopathic now that you mention it. I hate lavender personally , so I will ask a few friends who know a lot more about herbs and stuff then I do. I already know st john's wart does nothing for me.

I really don't want to go back to celexa, it took me months to stop it. I don't care what the label says about side effects , there are plenty. I have also read that tobacco co's are putting anti depressants in the cigs. Glad you guys reminded me , I don't feel so bad now.

Thanks everyone! Honestly I said it as a joke, but I'm glad I did. The possibility of depression worries me. The idea of never telling myself I "can't" have an analog may go a long way to help.

This is what I will try. In any case, even if I never quit altogether, the more cigs I can avoid, the better. :thumb:

You may be missing the anti depressant MAOI's in cigarettes. There's a very long but FASCINATING thread here called so are we getting it or are we not (I don't know how to link a thread or I'd do that for you). Many people have discovered they need to keep getting some MAOI's or they feel kinda crazy. So those people use snus or snuff along with vaping and it seems to do the trick. I cannot recommend that thread enough! Input from all kinds of people--all working together to figure it out--a joy to read.
