Just wanted to say thanks for all the diy tips on here. I have been playing with ECX tobacco express 555 and French pipe. I really like the flavors, but they both tasted dry to my palate. They also both have burnt paper/ cig taste to them that sucks the moisture out of my mouth. Even using EM and sweetener didn't change it much. I took y'all's advice and added two drops/ 5 ml of apple cider vinegar to them and kaboom. The flavors really laid down, and taste great. Yea! Thanks again.

So is that what vinegar does? Make it less dry/harsh? Always wondered what it actually did. Also, does ACV have a different effect than standard white vinegar?

You should always use some type of acid in your mixes. It helps to stabilize the juice so it will last longer and won't experience that flavor fade.

Vinegar seems to work best with tobacco flavors. I use concentrated lemon juice if it is another flavor.

Yes, you can use white vinegar.

Not really sure? Honestly I can't taste the flavor of the ACV. I can smell it a tad in the bottle, but no vinegar taste. It just mellows out the harsh flavors IMHO. I just added some to the French pipe, and left a few mm of the juice out to do a taste difference. It is really quite different. Much smoother. Its hard to believe that two drops of ACV per 5ml would make such a difference. Chemistry is cool.

Thanks for the info.. Is there a taste or any other difference when using one type of vinegar opposed to the other. ACV has a distinctive taste, even compared to standard vinegar

Yeah, you won't taste the ACV but it works wonders on the tobacco flavors.

The lemon juice is the same, at 2 drops you won't taste it. I however, have used lemon juice at 4 to 5 drops per 5ml of fruit flavored juices to add a little zing to the flavor. It gives the fruit flavors a really crisp bite.

ACV is standard in my base juice. Helps preserve it and smooths it out when flavors are added. Never tasted it, wife doesn't taste it and the few who have tasted my juice haven't complained! Haven't tried white vinegar except for cleaning my cartos and tanks..

I use either one (or lemon juice), depending on what I'm mixing.

My rule of thumb is to use whichever one would go better with the mix, in case I accidently mix it too strong and the flavor comes through. Fortunately I haven't had to test that rule of thumb yet. :)

Does the lemon juice or vinegar have any effect on polycarbonate?

The ACV hasn't affected any of mine or the wife's tanks. Nor any of the plastic bottles I use to store my juices.
In fact, I bought the ACV in a polycarbonate bottle instead of glass.. ( I know I'm a klutz at times around glass...)
