I've had this converted VV Grand for around 2 weeks, and thought it was time I extended a special thanks to mod-Master Robert....

I've been vaping for close to 4 years now, and have developed a preference for the consistency of regulated voltage / power devices. I had a couple of VV Grands in the past, but for my own reasons, didn't care for them much. I used a Kicked Grand for awhile, but wasn't wild about using the 18490's. Well, I happened across a post mentioning that Robert had plans to construct a Grand capable of using an 18650 with the Evolv Kick awhile back. Within minutes of reading that, I found myself e-mailing Robert to ask if he needed a beta tester.
I found out that particular project is going to be awhile down the road, but was offered a converted VV LP Grand which can do the same thing!
I haven't been so stoked over a piece of vape gear in years!
I consider the Kick 2 to be Evolv's DNA15. Full safety features, 15 watt / true 6 amp limit, can fire as low as 0.5 ohms, and step-down ability to 5 watts. PBusardo found it to be very accurate in his review awhile back, while producing a smooth power output. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWVCA46z-w4 Not everyone's cup of tea given it's 15 watt limit, but I'm only out to replicate the pleasure of tobacco smoking... Not bellow dragon clouds on a daily basis.
Anyhow, this mod is fantastic!
I tried my Origen v2, and Oreico Storm A RDAs out at first, but was blown away when I threw Sophia on top..
The Sophia by Leo is dynamite in a small package for certain.. Just about the size of a long-barrel 510 atty. The old-school look takes me back to when all we had to use on our REO's were 510, 306, 801, 901 attys and cartos. Many of us dreamt of some kind of rebuildable to use back then... Now it's reality.
I am currently vaping away at 1.0 ohm using AWG 28 / XC-116 ceramic wick in Sophia.
She does require NR / R wire to be used, but to me, the flavor of a good ceramic cup atty is worth it. I was using pre-made ready-wires until last week, when I ran across a fair deal on one of the best wire zappers available on the classies.
It only took a couple minutes to zap NR tails on this AWG 28 coil. I usually get over 3 weeks out of a ready-wire coil / small piece of XC-116 anyway, so I do not need to rebuild often enough to make it a hassle. Actually, I enjoy using the zapper..
Yep, this Grand is a keeper for sure!! It was a raw tumbled, but I decided to rough it up some. It has some shine, but it's not a fingerprint magnet, and daily use scratches won't bother me.
I'll eventually find something to cover or fill the original VV switch hole in the side. I'm thinking a red or blue crystal.. Kind of like the bottom switch of the Nzonic.
I look forward to using this Grand for years to come!! It's everything I wanted in a mod and more!
THANKS ROBERT!!
